Hex''s music is an interesting mix of influences. They take in dance music, rock and pop and stir ''til it becomes their own.
"Wicked Sexy Violet Pisces" is a wigged-out track with sensual vocals.
"Santeria Queen" is a funky cut with a nice bit of scratching and a magical bass line.
"Lucifer Fell" is a humorous tale about a bad man who meets his match. [9]''s laid-back vocals blend nicely with the music.
"Walk on Water" is a rockier song, which lets the band
go a bit Led Zeppelin.
"Soulless" is a little spooky, but also danceable and fun.
"Spoonful of Voodoo" is a wicked treat of an album.

BAND BIOS:
[9], singer/lyricist: Born with insatiable wanderlust and a feel for music, NYC singer/lyricist [9] supports her evil songwriting habit by slaving away as a copywriter and TV, web, and print journalist. She admits she fell in love three times in Paris - but only with the city''s underground arts and music scene. She speaks her own unique version of Franglais (tm;), but prefers to write in English. Her sources of inspiration are eclectic, and drawn from her passion for literature, travel, philosophy, music, and life (...the universe, and everything).
Christof, drummer/bass: A drummer for nearly 20 years, Christof has been keeping Parisians awake at 4am for two decades but hasn''t been banished yet. His drumwork is rapid-fire, precise, and melodic. He put in a year of hard labor at jazz school I.A.C.T. in Paris before heading out to work with musicians on the club circuit. He''s worked live sets with La Tannerie and Dummies, and in the studio with Narcolina and Mix Party.
Niko, composer/guitarist/synth programmer: French composer Niko has been delivering sweet riffs and mind-sizzling power chords on guitar for eight years. He''s also the master of synth behind the console, mixing recorded live sets, perc, bass, and samples with a pinch of gris-gris to deliver tracks that kickstart your mind and your booty. By day he puts on his super hero mask and works miracles as an infographiste (designer) for clients like movie giant Pathe. He speaks fluent Franglais and never plays soccer. Ever.
BAND BACKGROUND:
In this 21st century tale of two cities, NYC-based singer/songwriter [9] landed in Paris'' 20th district, with a folio of lyrics, but no music. Nykk, a guitarist with something to say but no words to say it with, found the wandering muse smoking a (legal) narjileh in a local tea room. Fast forward through a freezing Paris winter, several new song texts, a vanishing [9], who made pit stops in, among other places, Christiania, two very strong personalities and a lot of heated artistic differences, to the next season.
The Machiavellian duo lured drummer Christof right off the lawn in Parc Floral and into the studio to lay down the last tracks needed to kick the album into high gear.
The HEX collective''s "Spoonful of Voodoo" album delivers 13 solid tracks, from the blissed-out reggae-dub hum of "Christiania", to the hard rock thrust of "Scorpio Rising", a more gentle ballad in "Lucifer Fell", ironic wit in "Walk on Water", and the anthemic message of unity behind "Soulless".
HEX licenses tracks to TV/film production companies,
building up their indie artist budget so that they can
lock up the studio doors and put Pizza-rama on speed dial, emerging only to deliver another spoonful of voodoo on their next album, "The Blazing World".

TRACK TRIVIA:
Christiania was written as a tribute to Copenhagen''s "Free City". The lyrics delineate the history and atmosphere of the legal squatter camp. Christiania is also called "Little Amsterdam" - marijuana is sold openly on Pusher Street, though technically the sale of marijuana is still illegal.
Santeria Queen is a sly look at the power of rumor and urban myth. The lyric line "next day, walked into a 303" refers to an end scene in the movie "The Matrix", when Neo walks into an ambush in hotel room 303.
Title track Hex is about the world of S&M.
Soulless asks the question "if so many people believe in the same God, even if they call him a different name - why are they still fighting with each other?" Lyrics include line "every human language has a word for peace".
Wicked Sexy Violet Pisces was originally written as a tribute to cheer up the singer''s younger sister and make her laugh, while she was going through a bad breakup.
All tracks were recorded in Paris (France). Lyrics were written on trains, planes, automobiles, on the backs of camels, in Paris teahouses, Berlin coffeehouses, and just about anywhere you could balance a notebook and smoke at the same time.
