Details:
On the heels of "No Longer Satisfied" - the Gospel Music Association Song of the Year for 2005, Cindy leaps back into the music scene with her latest CD, "As I Go".

"The Heart of Praise given a Voice" says Wally Decker, Station Manager, WBFJ Radio.

"Pure. That''s the first word that comes to mind when I hear Cindy Johnson''s music. In a world that is full of artists with songs that are just clever catch phrases with no meat on the bone it''s really nice to find an artist who passionately lives the songs that she sings. Cindy''s voice is a soothing to listen to as any I''ve ever heard and I have always been a fan of her artistry, but even more than that, her heart. Cindy is the real deal and I encourage anyone to give her more than a passing listen."
- Jason Roy of Building429

"A sensitive, Godly, humble soul coupled with a
firecracker personality, and all wrapped in a beautiful, compelling
musical gift. People are drawn to her from the moment they meet her,
and rightly so. Rarely has such a passion and drive been knit together
with such a likable nature."
- John Mays, V.P./A&R, Centricity Records

We had a chance to sit down with Cindy and ask her about the latest CD.

Q: Why the title "As I Go"?

CJ: It seems with each CD that God gives me a theme that will be woven throughout the project. With “No Longer Satisfied”, the theme was centered around growing in your relationship with Christ instead of being stagnant. It was about bringing your best to God and not your leftovers. With “As I Go”, God was really teaching me about taking His truth out and sharing it as I go about my life. Whether I am in a foreign country, or just down the street at the grocery store, my job and my privilege is to share the love of my Savior-as I go.

Q: What is your favorite track on the CD?

CJ: It is so hard to pick a favorite because I am very passionate about the message of each song. However, one of my favorites is “Always”. It is a worship tune that I co-wrote with my husband Steve, and I like the song is because it is totally 100% about God. There are so many great worship songs out there, but a lot of them talk about me - I lift my hands; I lift my voice; etc. Those are great concepts, and I believe that God is pleased with those. However, I wanted to write a song that never mentioned me at all. I prayed that God would give me a song that was all about Him and His glory, and then He gave me “Always”.

Q: Where do you get inspiration for the songs you write?

CJ: Scripture is my greatest inspiration. God’s word is so beautiful, and He promises that it will never return void. So, if the songs I write are filled with scripture, then God has to use them to touch someone - because of this promise. God says things so much better than I ever could, and so I love to use His exact words when I am writing.

I also write from personal experience. God is constantly teaching me lessons and I love to journal those through song. Inevitably, God is teaching other people those same lessons and they can really connect and be encouraged by the songs He gives to me.

Q: Any new projects on the horizon?

CJ: In addition to the music side of me, God has started opening other ministry doors. For the last few years I have been doing a lot of speaking and teaching, and I love that. Also, I have partnered with Compassion International, an organization that assists children who live in poverty stricken countries. Their goal is to “release children from poverty in Jesus’ name”. I have traveled overseas with them twice and I look forward to doing that again.

There are always new projects on the horizon. As a songwriter, I look at all aspects of life as a possible song or album. So, there are always ideas floating through my brain. I hope to release a new project within the next year, but we will just have to see where God leads.
