SPOKEN WORD: Comedy, SPOKEN WORD: Poetry

Details:
Driven to comedy by law school, Heather Gold continues to mix mind with matter, never doing the same set twice. Heather''s unique style is a reflection of her unorthodox artistic path, reflecting her studies at Yale, Northwestern Law, The Groundlings and with Cynthia Szigeti in L.A. She''s written with Jennifer Coolidge (Best in Show) and for Alan Cumming, hosted Gynomite: Fearless Feminist Porn and Austin Gay Pride, and bakes a mean chocolate chip cookie.

Heather performs at venues across North America, like San Francisco''s Just for Laughs Showcase 2004, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, Q Comedy, Ladyfest, Brava Theatre, and The Marsh, Toronto''s https://www.tradebit.comedy, Austin''s SxSW and Vortex Rep, and New York''s B3, The Duplex and Gotham Comedy Club. She contributes to many shows and publications, including the Toronto Globe and Mail, shift magazine, TechTV''s Silicon Spin, The San Jose Mercury News and her own popular https://www.tradebit.com.

Heather is the recipient of an AIRspace residency at the Jon Sims Center for the Arts where she developed her debut solo show "I Look Like An Egg, But I Identify As A Cookie." In "Cookie," Heather bakes chocolate chip cookies with the audience while searching through modern sexuality for her whole self. The show has been playing to sold-out rooms and critical and audience raves, leading to a third extension at The Hotel Rex through June 2005. "Cookie" was recently honored by Curve Magazine with its 2004 Lesbian Theatre Award.

- Oakland Tribune, Best of the Bay

"If Nigella Lawson and Sandra Bernhard got elbow-deep in butter and sugar together"
- SFBay Guardian

"Gold has mastered that oh-so-rare breed of comedy--witticisms that make you think."
- Theatre Bay Area Magazine

"Comedienne extraordinnaire"
- Austin Chronicle

Note from Heather:
Much of this CD was recorded in the Bay Area at a friend''s wedding somewhere between the fire-dancers and the snake dancer. The New Ag-ier the environment, the more I tend to feel like I''m really Sadie Abromowitz, an 85 year old woman on NY''s Lower East Side smoking Pall Malls.

Microsoft=Christians, Apple=Jews was iitially written in the midst of working of the coke frenzy otherwise known as the dot com bubble. The cut on this CD was recorded at the Top 25 Women of the Web Awards, although a later essay version was shot for shift TV in Canada. It''s from before Steve Jobs'' second coming.

I write by performing and recording as much as I can. Kinda like skateboarding videos. I''m after the genuine moment when it all works. THere is almost always some improv and riffing involved in my performances. These days. I involve the audience in most of what I do. I''m influenced by the Internet, Alice Waters and DJing as much as comics like Janeane Garafalo and Paul Mooney.
