Keith has collaborated with members of The Metropolitan Opera, the L.A. Philharmonic, soprano Audra McDonald, and harmonica player John Popper. As a soloist and chamber musician, Keith has served on the artists roster of Lincoln Center Program for Schools, Peninsula Hotel, and Delaware Classical Showcase. He has performed with the early music group LA Musica Viva, Los Angeles Camerata, USC Symphony, Juilliard Symphony (under Leonard Slatkin), Downey Symphony, Santa Monica Symphony, and Monmouth Symphony. As a member of the Sun Guitar Quartet, Keith appeared on a CD for Leonore Library of Musical Masters, a DVD for Guitar Arts, performed in Tokyo and on the concert series of the American Guitar Society, and played premieres of works by noted guitar composers Stepan Rak, Frank Campo, and Carlos Barbosa-Lima. Keith has also performed at the Lincoln Center Mozart Bicentennial, Philly Fringe Festival, Fresno Classical Guitar Festival, BIG Arts Festival, and recently gave a lecture-recital at the Guitar Foundation of America Festival. As a soloist, he has played at Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center Public Library, St. Louis Art Museum, the Nicholas Roerich Museum, the art gallery of CBGB''s, Cal Tech, Musician''s Institute, NBC''s Today in L.A., and gave his Carnegie Hall recital debut as Winner of the Artists International Competition in 1992.

Mel Bay Publications has published several of his books and recordings, most notably ''Guitar Music of the 16th Century'' and ''Gospel Favorites for Classical Guitar''. As a composer, his works have also been published by Mel Bay, as well as in two anthologies of pedaogical guitar solos in Belarus. His CD ''To Belarus and Beyond'', is comprised solely of his original compositions. More recent compositional activity includes writing The Hidden River Project for Anne-Marie Mulgrew and Dancers Company, and The Tintin Suite for the California State University Bakersfield Guitar Ensemble, under the direction of jazz guitarist Jim Scully.

Schools that he has taught at include Drury University, University of Southern California, and Settlement Music School. Keith earned his Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Guitar Performance at USC (cum laude), Master of Music at The Juilliard School, and his Bachelor of Music degree at California State University Northridge. Keith also earned diplomas from Berklee College of Music and Musica en Compostela (Spain). His numerous masterclass performances with Eliot Fisk, Oscar Ghiglia, and Carlos Barbosa-Lima were also formative influences.

Dr. Calmes currently teaches guitar at Wall High School in and Monmouth University in New Jersey, and teaches privately in both New Jersey and Pennsylvania. The New Jersey chapter of the American String Teachers Association recently asked Keith to join their Board of Directors. Keith''s latest CD, ''Simple Dreams'', features the engineering and flugelhorn virtuosity of Steve Jankowski from Blood, Sweat, and Tears.
