The band, Alchemy, was set up in 2000. They have already released two long-playing records. The latest one, “The Ground,” was released a long time ago, that is in 2002. Now the time has come to record some new pieces of music. After such a long period of silence we instinctively gave up short, simplified musical forms in favour of compositions arranged in a more complex way which give us much more room for manoeuvre. To avoid being compared “to somebody” we deliberately do not characterise our music, leaving it to listeners. One thing is sure, the music from our new album “The Third Shade” expresses entirely our own view on what music should be like. It certainly matches the meaning of the word “alchemy.” This publication is a new stage in our creative activity when it has turned out that the old formula did not work out. Besides, because of that reason, in 2003 Izabella Konar (now the lead singer in The Alchemy), like Piotrek Sprawka, left the old band. At present The Alchemy has been revived and consists of the following members. Piotrek Sprawka is a composer and arranger. It is him who thought everything out and then recorded every single note on this album. The spiritual needs were taken care of by Marcin Babicz, the author of most of the texts from “The Third Shade.” The written word is brilliantly employed by the singer and the author of the texts, Izabella Konar, who by means of her voice creates the style of the band. Pawe-- Czapski, a drummer with zest for jazz, works on the rhythmic section. Every member of the band took part in many musical projects, thus gaining experience and inspiration, which today accumulate in The Alchemy.
