Diamond Mind is the first release by High Chair.
High Chair is one person, Billy Surgeoner from London (UK).
This is music recorded over the last few years, 2003 to 2005.
Played mainly on keyboard, these five pieces take you on a sublime journey to the stars and beyond. Slow moving chords and melodies that build to reach a plateau then on to the next. Almost classical in construction with hints of Messiaen or Bruckner in the Cathedral like structure of the pieces but leaning towards Pink Floyd, Brian Eno or early Tangerine Dream at other times. Other influences include early King Crimson, early Genesis, Van der Graaf Generator, Amon Duul 2 and Can.
Billy has been playing music for over 30 years, Prog Rock in the 70s, Post Punk and Reggae in the 80s and mainly Folk music in the 90s. He has also composed music for the British choreographer Lea Anderson and toured with her dance companies The Cholmondeleys and The Featherstonehaughs. At the beginning of 2003 Billy joined the London based Pink Floyd tribute band "Pink Fraud" and plays keyboards for them.
Another very different High Chair release is planned before the end of the year that will consist of three long (deep drift) guitar improvisations.
