Biography

This debut CD is a unique blend of Eastcoast sound meets Westcoast groove with world musicians hailing from the San Francisco Bay area, Nevada, South Carolina, New York, and Maryland. Lynda''s clear high vocals and unique songwriting style echo a heritage of jazz, soul, and funk influence from her early childhood haunted by the impact of clean lilting Appalachian ballads heard in her teen years. Lifting up the songs is a monster quartet of seasoned professionals with a serious groove layed down straight from the pages these players have lived in. The blend is unique and original with a fresh take on the R&B sound in this pop/soul crossover.

The creation of this CD has been part of a two year odyssey, a road from east to west and back again. I want to thank my family and especially my three beautiful sons (Josh, Ben, and Ethan) for all of their patience and support while I sat hunkered over my guitar creating these songs when they needed breakfast. To my parents who always surrounded me with music and encouraged me to play instruments from the time I was very young. Pop, the sounds we heard from the front row seats at the Maynard Ferguson concert when I was a little girl are still in my mind today. Thank you, Maryland crew for helping me start ivyrowe - for your dedication to taking these songs out to a live audience and road testing them before we brought them to the studio, for better or worse. Thanks Damon for all of your tireless snow shoveling, plowing, and occasional towing of musicians up the hill to your amazing studio and for all of your hours of recording and mixing this winter on the shores of Lake Tahoe. Eric Uglum for your upbeat candid support and work in your magical mastering lab in LA. To all of the musicians I am proud to now call the band who came together and made magic happen in Tahoe – Stan, Aladdin, Mr. Bob Gilliom, and of course the one and only Gig who helped make these songs into the wall of sound they are today. I feel so lucky and blessed to have had such an amazing crew of people helping me bring my songs to life and it is with great pride and love that I give them to you, the audience and invite you to stand here beside us and sing along. The stories here are about you and for you. With love, Lynda
