Details:
D.J. Los

D.J. Los is a rap producer, writer and D.J. who has a distinct sound that he has been cultivating since a kid growing up in Detroit.

D.J. Los was born April 23, 1972 and developed an interest in music at an early age. He often traveled with his father, Carl “Butch” Small to the Parliament/Funkadelic studio, where his dad did percussion work for the popular 1970s and 80s group. D. J. Los wasted no time in displaying his talent, earning his first vocal and instrumental credit on Bootsy Collins’ 1979 album “This Boot is Made for Funkin” when he was a mere seven years old.

D.J. Los connected to rap long before hip-hop dominated the airwaves. He was influenced by many who are now considered the godfathers of rap, like Run D.M.C., L.L. Cool J., Whodini, E.P.M.D. and Jazzy Jeff and The Fresh Prince – all acts featuring a phenomenal DJ.

D. J. Los also developed an interest in beat boxin, which replaced DJs in groups like The Fat Boys and Doug E. Fresh. He has incorporated beat boxin in songs he has written, including the theme song for the local television dance show called “The Scene” that aired in early 1988.

D.J. Los continued to take the art of DJ to new levels. He began scratching records where ever he could – at Grandma’s house, the home of friends and at parties where the DJ knew his growing reputation as a master DJ. He received a lot of support from his father who invested in son by purchasing equipment that allowed D.J. Los to continue to perfect his sound.

D.J. Los teamed with a talented MC called E.Z.B. and formed “E.Z.B. and D.J. Los.” The dynamic duo released “Untouchable” in 1988 on World One Records. But things took a bad turn when rap partner E.Z.B. was sent to prison in 1990.

D.J. Los, however, was not distracted. He stayed on track and continued to develop his skills as a producer, writer and rapper. He started experimenting with his Dad’s drum machines, which set him up for a big opportunity. In 1990, when his dad received a call from Dr. Dre to play percussion for Death Row Records, D.J. Los landed a song on the multi platinum album “Above the Rim” called “Got To Get My Money Rite”, which featured his boy, Lord G, on lyrics. He also has a local hit called “313” released in 2004-05.

D.J. Los newest release is “The Dilemma” featuring Dusty, Badd Ceed, Boss Nijeri Earth, Madd Angel, Fort Knocks, Ironside, Black Rain, and Armageddon.
