Honey Roy & the 40 oz. Of Funk. Rarely does a band''s name so perfectly sync up with its music and identity. Honey Roy & the 40 oz. Of Funk released its debut CD, a self-titled, five song can of walloping butt-kicking funk.
The quartet is composed of vocalist/harmonica and keyboard player Roy Carter; drummer Chris Boehme; guitarist Dan Harris and bassist Bob Akers.
Originally from Indiana, Carter says music has always been a part of his life - his father played sax for the likes of Sam the Sham and Chuck Berry."I wrote poetry before I could really even play music," Carter says. "Then I realized, you put a rock beat behind the poetry and people will pay attention to it. All of a sudden you''ve got an audience for it."
