NEW SHOES
Soulful Rock and Blues

"NEW SHOES" brings a high level of experience and diverse musical backgrounds together to provide a wide range and interesting blend of music. Our style can be categorized as soulful rock and blues. We love playing music and are interested in our audiences having fun listening and moving their feet.

Ray Merry: Guitar and Vocals
Ray has been playing music professionally since 1979. His experience includes touring, working on original projects and recording a CD. He brings a strong, clear vocal presence to the band along with his songwriting and natural guitar abilities.

Dawn Poff: Keyboards and Vocals
A classically trained concert pianist, Dawn studied under a PhD from Julliard for 7 years while competing in piano Concerto Competitions and appearing as a soloist with symphony orchestras. Dawn also grew up playing bluegrass with her father. She has a soulful hard-edge vocal quality and is influenced by the blues and jazz of the south. Dawn is also a very accomplished songwriter.

Michael Peters: Bass
Michael grew up in L.A. and has been playing bass professionally for many years in both California and Colorado. He is a graduate of the Bass Institute of Technology in Hollywood. He has several Album credits to his name. You can hear the influence from artists like Steeley Dan and Joni Mitchell in his very expressive bass lines, powerful rhythms, and grooves.

Brett Gould: Drums
Brett Gould has played drums professionally since he was seventeen and sang in a National Choir that performed at Carnegie Hall. He spent eleven years in L.A. performing and recording with numerous bands. Among them were artists such as Basil Fung (Alanis Morrisette, Curtis Stieger, Janet Jackson), Keith Howlan (Rick Springfield, Chicago), and Eve Selvis (Kings Road). He worked assembling guitars for Ripley Guitars and Tom Anderson Guitar Works. His work can be found in the hands of Eddie VanHalen, Steve Vai, Neil Schon, Steve Miller, Keith Richards, and Dweezil Zappa. Although he found much satisfaction in his life in L.A. he moved back to rural Colorado to raise his two daughters. He still enjoys making music with true artists like Ray, Mike, and Dawn.
