Details:
Back in April of 2004 the open mic poet, Thaddeus James had just finished recording his first demo. At the same time John Gray, local Chicago producer and member of the group Fluid Minds was sifting through his rolodex. They had met on a previous occasion through a local band that John was recording at the time. This foreshadowed phone call led to a partnership that would go under the moniker Notebook Noise. Mr. Gray''s ear for fresh Hip-Hop production sits well behind the genuine rhymes of Thaddeus James. The third head on this “beast of a project” is Frank Clayton, the wiz kid, multi-instrumentalist with a style influenced by a variety of musical genres. Together they create an original twist on Hip-Hop by blending a sincere message, enticing rhythms and soulful melodies that can be described as Snoop Dogg meets Gnarls Barkley.

The new Notebook Noise LP “Snares, Hooks and Rhyme Books” offers a great vibe from front to back, both musically and visually. The listener has the option of a digital download or kicking it old school with a CD to actually be able to hold, feel, smell or maybe even use as a ninja weapon. The new LP features eye-catching artwork by graphic artist Joe Sampson and is packaged in a hip, thin eco-wallet. He captured the emotion and feel of this project with a dramatic color scheme and urban background that compliments the music perfectly. The album art was requested by Disc Makers to be licensed for use with their promotional items.

Thaddeus and John are currently recording the follow up to “Snares, Hooks and Rhyme Books,” an EP titled “Debonair Wit.” The entire EP with artwork will be available as a free digital download on myspace. It will feature collaborations with emcee Knowledgeborn 07 and also introduce Christian Rogala on a Chicago Cubs/White Sox cross-town classic song. Christian (M.C-Biscuit) was an obvious choice, since he loves the Cubs and is in the band Fluid Minds with John and Frank. The EP is heavily draped with subtle and abrupt pop culture references. The most evident example comes from ‘The Simpson’s’ based epics “Nuclear Dro” and “Super Nintendo Chalmers (Nuclear Dro-ish).” Look for the free “Debonair Wit” download soon and pick up your copy of “Snares, Hooks and Rhyme Books” at https://www.tradebit.com today.
