The term ''Uncle Jim'' is not a figurative one. Jim has 26 nieces and nephews! He started writing children''s music years ago when he would sing to them - - and they would come back months later singing the same songs!
Jim''s talent shines on both electric and upright acoustic bass, playing with performers ranging from jazz legend Mose Allison to Ringo Starr.
As a member of Jimmy Buffett''s Coral Reefer band since 1989, Jim has been writing, recording and performing worldwide with Buffett, and appearing on numerous television shows.
Jim also co-writes and performs across the U.S. with his brother, Peter Mayer.
Jim, Peter, and drummer Roger Guth (another member of the Coral Reefer band) performed together in 1985 as the pop group "PM" with a top 10 hit, "Piece of Paradise", released on Warner Bros. Records.
Jim resides in Nashville where he''s working on completing a children''s storybook.
