Background
Born in Haiti, Jean Marc Schomberg aka JanMak, has long been an underground sensation on the Haitian Music scene, most notably in the ever growing creole reggae/ragga movement in Haiti and Miami, dominated by artist such as Belo, Jahnesta and others.

He first arrived on the scene with several cameo appearances with the Haitian compas group Dega on the songs “Misye Mechan” and “Koule Café”. Although traditional compas tracks, JanMak’s unique reggae style brought a whole new flavor to these eventual hits.

Staying true to his roots JanMak continued his underground status and perfected his craft. In 2005, JanMak teamed up with Kompa TV and released two tracks for the compilation album “Kompa TV Presents Volume 1”, a remix version of “Misye Mechan” and a collaboration project with fellow musicians Kia entitled “Leve”. Thom Jurek of All Music Guide called "Mr. Merchant" by Jean-Marc Schomberg “an utterly beautiful electrified compas tune”. The album is available worldwide in most major digital music stores.

The Album
With the wide spread internet success of JanMak’s music, he went into the lab and with the help of friend/producer Andy Barrow created his first album “Ti Son Kreole” the title track of album. A simple translation is “A Little Creole Sound”, this album however, is no little creole sound. It is a musical mixture of mellow, jazzy, guitar, drum and horn driven reggae music for your soul. This is not the type of album you take to the club, this is one you sit back on your lounge chair and just vibe to.

Music With a Message
Growing up in Haiti it is hard for any artist not have a deep found appreciation for the struggles and perils of the country dubbed “las perle des Antilles” Each track on his album has a message for his beloved country. No stone is left unturned from politics to social injustice, JanMak has a word and message for his beloved country.

“Ti Son Kreole” is musical journey well worth the wait and will propel JanMak to the top of this genre.
