Johan''s first CD titled EVOLUTIONS contains several pop-based tracks as well as compositions containing ambient textures. The latter compositions are emotional in nature. Most of the tracks were composed using a process of improvisation followed by expansion with accompanying instruments. You will find vocals on this CD as well but they are synthetic in nature. Interesting to note is that Johan tries to achieve a natural band feel even though his music is electronic in nature.
Johan''s music tells a story with his music and one can imagine watching a movie when listening to the compositions. Not surprisingly, he uses video to accompany the music and expand it into more dimensions. The videos with his music can be viewed on his website.
Key inspiration for Johan has been the music of Tangerine Dream and Klaus Schulze, as well as Progressive Rock music from groups such as ELP, Caravan, and Yes. Other inspiration for his music comes from Nature.
Although Johan is a scientist by training he has been composing music since age 13. The driving source in his life is creativity and he expresses that not only through composing and creating music but also in scientific endeavors.
