MP3 impossible songs - social enterprise

This is more music from impossible songs but with a twist or three, in the form of madly instrumental(?) soundscapes and poems, reworked guitars and drum machines, soothing, crunchy, hypnotic, happy and disturbing. This is tribal music...

9 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Instrumental Rock, NEW AGE: Ambient

Details:
Social Enterprise represents a departure from our previous song based albums. This one is really about using up some of our older or less well developed material and arranging and replaying it and allowing the tunes to spill out into completely different tangents. The (unexpected) result is that we ended up with a number of instrumental pieces, a long song, a poem, kids chanting and reciting and a host of guitar and drum machine sounds. Some of these tunes date back to the early eighties (not these recordings however) and they have survived on a long and odd stretch of musical roadway.

We''ve tried to mix dynamics and textures a bit differently too - and you can be the judge as to how effectively this has worked.

Social enterprise is happy at times, moody, strange, hypnotic in places, annoying, compulsive and very much a new enterprise and experiment for us.

Maybe this extract from the sleeve notes will help:

"This album is one of those things that came out of what seemed a simple idea, take the old songs, songs and pieces that have been played and played around and redo them differently, take them of at different tangents and see how far they can or can''t be stretched. It then turned into a run in on guitar sounds and tones, trying to blend the electric and effects with the acoustic. Trying to turn the music upside down in the mix, put the back to the front, blend it all differently, twist it a bit, try not to let the distortion rule and still build in a few listening surprises in the depths and in the obvious. We added words and odd ideas, backgrounds and bases. We skewed in a few tricks and puzzles, plays on riffs that may be familiar and kindly crazy as all rock ghosts should be."

"Everybody thinks they''ve heard it all before and talk is so cheap but things do come at you from the strangest angles sometimes. Back in 1981 my oldest son was just a toddler, about two years old, he was playfully turning the pages of a Bible that was lying around. Somewhere in the Old Testament he stopped at a long list, "What are these?" he asked, before I could explain the list he said "Pictures of names!" It stuck with me there and then, lists of names along a huge time line. That is what we all are and we may have been on that line longer than we know."

(Not quite from the Bumper Book of FTMT - impossible songs)

Special thanks of course must go to those fine imaginary fellows the Roughboy Mixers who have in there own detached, invisible and irreverent way assisted with every impossible songs project so far. These non-existent and purely existential music makers are the driving forces behind impossible songs and inchgarvie music without doubt. We (Ali & I) cannot thank or pay them enough for their inspiration, provocation, technical support and the regular sonic abuse they heap upon us. The good news is that we still retain exclusive rights to their services and should you require their assistance (which you do, but you just don''t fully realize it), in the form of actual Roughboy Mixing and production then I''m afraid it''s via impossible songs HQ only - the email address is here, don''t be afraid to use it, you may regret it but what the hell! It''s so much better to regret doing something than doing nothing, so why not just contact us and buy this CD?

So what if you want to get down and get dirty? May we suggest you ignore South Queensferry and head straight for New Orleans, we may well see you there, if you''d care to forward the air-fare and a hotel booking.

I''d also like to dedicate this CD to two new and wonderful babies, Taylor Lewis Barclay who arrived on November 25th and Elijah Jonathan Barclay who arrived on December 28th ..

This is a tribal thing...

And now back to our normal flow of things:

Otherwise the songs keep on coming, there is a stream... and the other ideas, books, poems, lyrics, artwork, short stories and general business craziness. If you want to backtrack on more of our material try the is blogspot (on the other side of this page) and also try https://www.tradebit.com
