Jo Kelly Stephenson, from Melbourne, Australia, has turned the countryside into a concoction of roots and wild flowers with a down home collection of groove based songs.
You’ll be sliding through the mud of a swampy river bed in ‘Deep End’ through to losing yourself in the pleasure of riding that wave in ‘Out At Sea’, the last track on the album.
Lap steel, banjo, mandolin, individual vocal sound and harmonies, all combine to produce an eclectic mix with broad appeal.
Already with multiple songwriting awards under her belt, this young singer and multi-instrumentalist recently took out the People’s Choice award for ‘Alt. Country Album of the Year’ in the 2008 US Independent Music Awards. Previously, the album was selected as one of four finalists by a panel of distinguished judges. Contest judges included Suzanne Vega, Wynonna Judd, Ray Davis from The Kinks and many more.
