MP3 Swank - The Survival Issue

Ass kickin, corn swillin, all hoedown, no uptown, f@#ked up country and somethin....

15 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Roots Rock, COUNTRY: Western

Details:
The Survival Issue is the second longplayer from west coast roots/punk/rock veterans Swank. Produced by Howard Redekopp (54-40, New Pornographers) The Survival Issue is the follow up to the critically acclaimed rockabilly blues flavoured debut Pappy''s Corn Squeezin''s. The band has had a song on the Vancouver Roots compilation Showdown (Black Hen) and songs from their debut have been played on national radio as well as college stations across the land.

The five members of Swank - Paul Addington (Electric/Acoustic Guitars/Vocals), Phil Addington (Bass/Vocals), Kirk Douglas (Drums/Percussion/ Vocals/Guitar/Dobro), Doug Liddle (Electric/Acoustic Guitars, Slide and Steel Guitar/Vocals) and Spencer McKinnon (Lead Vocals/Harmonica) have made the move beyond their rockabilly blues roots into a jukebox that spins songs from artists like Rocket >From The Crypt and Steve Earle yet still has tunes from the dark side of George Jones and Hank Williams.

The Survival Issue is an enhanced CD featuring the Patrick Carroll produced video single of How Do We Do which features Anna Bon Bon sharing lead vocals and will debut at this years Indie Music Video Festival. Swank''s fifteen song storybook is a sweat stained journey through the dark heart of life''s underbelly. From the rollicking single How Do We Do to the banjo driven alcohol induced How Fucked Is That? to the grinding rhythm of the small town paranoia of Blackflies and on to soul saving promise of Wanted In Ten States, The Survival Issue is an essential read.

SWANK - PRESS REACTION

"Whisky-drenched country, white-lightning rockabilly, and dark, old timey folk. Further proof that Vancouver has one of North America''s strongest roots-music scenes, the disc offers a gold rush of songs about the important things in life: trailer parks, Elvis, whiskey, Stompin'' Tom, and the thrill of riding greased pigs in nothing but underwear." Mike Usinger - The Georgia Straight

"Swank''s rockabilly blues is sweaty, voluptuous and impeccably performed."
The Vancouver Sun
