Details:
"Blackjacks" is Jack Kid''s third CD and it includes emotionally charged songs about the cascading national events that led America from 911 towards the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. The first track of the album "So Many Angels 911" was awarded an Honorable Mention in the Folk/Country category of Billboard Magazine''s 2004 World Song Contest.

Kid views his new CD as a "three year long visual sound sculpture; a sparing, truthful work that finds hope among the gray ashes of 911." A dark thread binds each song track together as Kid takes listeners through the bleak and brooding side of humanity before emerging with hope and resurrection of the spirit. Kid revisits wars and events from the 19th and 20th century as well. "I go back into time (1821) and visit blackjack sailors who hunted whales and became victims at sea. I revisit the Gettysburg battlefield where an unknown soldier''s unmarked grave was recently discovered, and I move towards the bombing of Baghdad in January 18, 1991, the second day of my daughter''s birth.

Having served in Vietnam from 1970-71 Kid''s sympathies go out to soldiers and their families. he takes on the taboo of suicide by dedicating a song in memory of several dozen soldiers who took their lives after returning home from Iraq. Says Kid, "I explore vengeance and how truth becomes the first casualty of war. I mourn the loss of men and women missing in action and I question how visions for peace can ever grow from blood stained ground." Kid concludes, "My songs are a merging of the past and present, the topical and universal. I hope my efforts will inspire listeners to take a dark, yet heartfelt journey through my CD and emerge with some personal insight into the human condition."
