ROCK: Roots Rock, BLUES: Rhythm & Blues

Details:
This beautifully crafted, deeply personal, rootsy CD by New Orleans singer/songwriter Jesse Moore is a journey of the heart and soul. Produced by Anders Osborne and featuring some of New Orleans'' finest musicians, Moore''s voice sails through five of his own compositions, two by Osborne, one by Dr. John''s guitarist John Fohl and a unique version of Lyle Lovett''s "If I Had a Boat".

"...deep, spiritual blues, good times roots rock, dark funk...Moore''s voice is a joy!" - Offbeat Magazine, New Orleans

Jesse Moore honed his craft as a singer, songwriter and guitarist in the honky tonks and bars of his home in New Orleans, and on stages from San Francisco to Singapore and Berlin to Bali.

Jesse has traveled the world performing as a musician and actor for his entire adult life... and most of his childhood. He began his career at the age of 12 as a staff "demo singer" in the famed Brill Building in New York, pumping out demos of songs written by many of the great songwriters of the time. At 13, he won the famed Apollo Theater Talent Night Contest, signing with fledgling Star Records. As lead singer for The Stereos, he recorded a self-titled album for MGM Verve Records, produced by the legendary Tom Wilson.

Jesse wound up in Tokyo, where he joined 9 other Americans performing as The Houserockers, an R&B ensemble that released five albums on RCA Victor of Japan Records and toured extensively throughout Japan and Southeast Asia.

The Houserockers disbanded in Bangkok, where he and Carlton "Slim" Godwin created Black Fire, touring extensively through the Far East, Australia and New Zealand to huge audiences and rave reviews.

He then returned to Bali, where he hooked up with Prophecy, becoming the first westerners to achieve superstar status in the Far East. He combined the two bands and headed off to a fruit forest in the jungles of Malaysia, rehearsing acoustically (no electricity, of course!) for a six-month stint at Barabarella''s in Singapore as the new BlackFire-Prophecy. They then returned to Bangkok, establishing their own successful nightclub, the Electric Shadow.

Upon returning to the States, he reformed and recorded with Prophecy, settling in San Francisco, working clubs up and down the West Coast. Jesse then left to develop his solo act. It was guitarist and singer Bonnie Raitt who first turned Jesse on to the uniqueness of New Orleans, but it wasn''t until a visit there in 1988 that he fell in love with the Crescent City and it''s funky music.

Through all this, he managed to develop a successful acting career, crafting major roles in soaps and primetime network TV as well as theater productions here and in Europe.

Jesse recently performed a series of reunion concerts with Prophecy in Bali and is editing documentary footage for Back in the Garden: A Bali Rocumentary; while working on the release of a live CD "Alive in Singapore" and an autobiography "The One Who Got Away". He is co-founder of Catskill Animal Sanctuary, a non-profit organization that rescues abused and abandoned horses and farm animals, located on 77 acres in upstate New York. He lives in New Orleans.
