3 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Modern Rock, POP: Today''s Top 40

Details:
Jessie Poland is only sixteen but has an old soul. She writes about her experiences as a sort of therapy, framing them in a way that teens and adults alike can relate too. It''s no wonder with such a broad mosaic of songwriter and music influences; Lisa Loeb, Fiona Apple, Tegan and Sara, Snow Patrol, Death Cab for Cutie....as well as pop and classic artists like Christina Aguilera, Van Morrison and Aretha Franklin. But, there is no mistaking the thread of unrest in her music.

Singing and dancing since the age of two, Jessie can''t recall when she wasn''t performing. She would sing her own lyrics to a tambourine for friends and family until a short-lived stint with piano lessons failed to keep her interested in the instrument. She found her outlet singing and dancing in plays and musicals at school as early as the first grade. Although Jessie feels she started writing her first songs when she was nine, it wasn''t until she was thirteen that she says she "got serious" about the craft. She began studying guitar and songwriting with Alex Houton, a NJ based producer/songwriter who was developing new artists. Noticing that her personality "lit up the room", Houton was amazed with Jessie''s innate sense of melody, clever lyrics, and felt she had "star-quality". He sent Jessie to study with renowned vocal coach, Don Lawrence (Christina Aguilera, Bono, Joss Stone), and she quickly developed the sense of contrast and control that would become a vehicle to deliver her songs with style and confidence.
