The “7 Cities” that make up Hampton Roads, Virginia is the home for Soul Direction Community Youth Choir (SDCYC), founded in 2002 by Lucinda and Kelcey McDonald. Since its inception, this group of energetic and talented youth has traveled and ministered throughout Virginia, and in other states, namely: Illinois, Georgia, Florida, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey. The choir’s performances include a variety of musical styles: Traditional Gospel, Negro Spirituals, Contemporary Gospel and original compositions.
The Vision for the choir is to take 100 youth to 100 cites. The Mission is to encourage positive direction in youth by singing in a gospel choir and participating in other wholesome activities. SDCYC’s Goal is to unite youth, communities, and churches through ministry and fellowship. Soul Direction has been praised for their anointed music ministry, strong vocal performance, and energetic cutting edge choreography.
