One of my first musical "highs" was when my Dad bought me a Vox Spitfire Guitar and my friend Terry got his first champagne sparkle drum-kit from Montgomery Ward. For all kind''s of reasons, which we didn''t really care about; we wanted to be in a band! We were miserable if we could''n''''t practice every night and all day on the weekends. When we weren''t jamming we were practicing in our rooms; usually very LOUD! We were 14 years old. Our lives transformed by flipping on the switches of our amps.....and then...and then life continued; more expansion came forth. I remember sitting in my parent''s car waiting for my mom when "Sunshine of Your Love" came on the radio...my mind shattered (still looking for all the pieces)! That was a beautiful moment in a series of awakenings.
Sgt. Pepper''s, light shows, moving to the Sangre de Cristo mountains and playing space grass music with the "Wet Mountain Dreamers", later hitching to the mid-west to study meditation, sing chants, study sitar at the Himalayan Institute; these are pieces of the development of the music that is revealing itself now.
Of course... technology keeps beaming in fantastic new tools and applications which continue to foster deep and profound musical excursions for all of us. Now we have the sophisticated studios we dreamed of when we were young....in our basements, no less.. and the music we write inspires inner plane journeys. This music, this mantric poetry, is like chanting* as we hike up the paths of the Himalayas of our minds.
These days I use music in my acupuncture practice. I''ve tried many different styles of music and observed hundreds of clients relax deeply especially when the sounds are conducive to dropping their daily lives, raising their endorphins, and setting the tone for physical, mental, and emotional rejuvenation. Myself and many of my colleagues are using" 5 Buddhas Full moon" as part of our treatment modalities and life offerings. We are acupuncturists, chiropractors, pilates teachers, massage practitioners, bookstore owners. craftspeople and artists. For this reason the collection called "Alchemy of Sound/Sonic Tools for Transformation" has been created. "5 Buddhas Full Moon" is the first in the series which can be used to condition the sound nature of the space around us.
