With an extensive graduation in Arts, including Music, Literature, Photography and Dance, AUM SOHAM specialized in Singing and over these two last decades, he has devoted most of his time on researching vocal sonorities and giving rise to inventive compositions, where voice is used within unconventional aesthetics, often processed by some electronic device.
Artist committed with innovation, he was one of the first Brazilian musicians to use the “Sampler” and mix loops in his musical work and also in his scarce scenical apparitions, which were for a long time presented in a solo form, with his voice performed alive, accompanied solely by tape-recorders, electronic instruments and computer.
His singular creation can be heard in soundtracks for theatre and dancing, like that of the dance workshop “Der Überfall Auf Die Konditorei” staged in 1996 in Berlin, Germany. However, on account of some typical distortions of a nation such as Brazil, where it is harder for non-commercial art and vanguard to settle down, his work stayed unrecorded up to now. Yet, his first EP is out at last, bringing us a previous sample from the full CD, due to December.
AUM SOHAM also performs as Musical Producer, collaborates with several other artists and develops projects of cultural stamp similar to that one found in the CD “A Música de João Bosco”, in which fifteen young musical interpreters were revealed, assembled together and around this notorious acclaimed Brazilian composer’s exquisite work.
