Bio Page

There are many events that have occurred in my life which have seemed like accidents or "chances of fate." However, I know that God has a plan for each of us, including me. But in my case, I just don''t always see His side of my story.
For example, I began playing the guitar at age eleven. My brother Dan had started taking guitar lessons a few weeks earlier, but had to go out of town to work for two or three weeks. In order to keep his spot with the teacher, I filled in for him. Dan never started up the lessons again, but I kept taking them for the next three years.
Many years later, another "chance of fate" occurred when it was time to go to college. During high school, I had planned to be a Political Science major, and then go on to law school. That''s a laugh now, but I was really goofy in high school. Anyway, when I went to register for college at the University of Colorado in Denver, I could not get any classes I wanted or needed to pursue my goals. So, I went over to Metro State and registered as a Music major. I got every class I needed. So I began my college years majoring in Music instead of Political Science. As "chance" would have it, I chose Music Education just to have something to fall back on in case my career as a rock star didn''t work out. Oh, and by the way, I was a trumpet major since they didn''t offer guitar at that time. And I''m sure I was the worst trumpet player they had ever heard. In my second year of college, they began offering Classical Guitar as a major, and I quickly took a "chance" and jumped ship into more friendly musical waters.
After college, I worked many different jobs in many different fields and played in local bands in the Denver area. I couldn''t find a teaching job, but I probably didn''t try very hard then anyway. I ended up going on the road with a show band, and I was fortunate to play a lot of great cities all over the country.
After my tour of duty on the road, I came back to Denver to "settle down", and I continued to play locally with various groups. I played Country, Classic Rock, and Jazz Fusion. I also played in coffee houses and for weddings as a Classical Guitarist. However, I ended up getting a job as a teacher in Denver, and have been with Denver Public Schools for nineteen years. I started out in Special Education, and have taught everything from Reading to Computer Technology along the way. But most of the years have been spent teaching music. How "lucky" for me that I chose Music Education - "just in case."
I have finally finished the CD, "It''s All Good." It has been a long road, and one that I thought would take me in different directions, as I''m sure most people do. I had hoped to finish the CD much sooner, but I know the timing is right, even though some of the songs are fairly old. To me, they still sound fresh, however. Hopefully you''ll think so, too. As with most things in my life, it took me a long time to "get it together." I am still trying to hear from God and follow His plan for my life. Sometimes I do, sometimes I miss the mark. But I know there are no "chances of fate." I do know that as it says in Romans 8:28, "All things work together for good for those who love the Lord and are called according to His purpose," things are working out according to plan - not to chance.
It is my hope that if you take the time to listen to the sound samples, you''ll like the CD enough to buy it. It encompasses many styles. Initially, I wanted to do a Smooth Jazz project, but instead it ended up reflecting many of my playing and writing styles. From Jazz to Country to Classical and a few stops in between, I hope you''ll agree that "It''s All Good."
