Turning a new leaf…
In the past, anger & emptiness have been regular visitors in her songs but today there is also room for will-power, perseverance, hope and even happiness! Listening to the five new Elly Kellner songs you are drawn into this new world where not everything is so bad…
Produced by Danny Gras in the warm nest that we know to be the ‘Yellow Cactus Studios’ the overall sound has become fuller and more powerful than before. On this CD the ‘girl with the 4-string guitar’ is accompanied by guest artists Guido Elshof (drums), Lennart vd Berg (bass) and Moniek de Leeuw (violin).

Biography:
Elly Kellner (13 August 1976, Antwerp) is a skilled singer-songwriter. Her songs were first heard in an environment where psychological abuse took centre stage. Strumming the guitar and singing from when she was 9 years old, the music seemed to be the one steady factor in her life. As a child music was her support and cuddle. Nowadays music is a way to get to know herself and people better. Via her songs she finds it’s alright to ask questions and to also look for answers in the earth, trees and sky. Stubborn as she can be she plays a 6-string guitar with only 4 strings and detunes these regularly. Why keep it simple if it can be complicated?

Elly spent several years performing solo before setting up the Acoustic-Noise duo ‘Keshri’ in 1999 with Andra Veraart, releasing a full length CD, The Keshri Transition (2001). In 2003 Elly moved from the Netherlands to the United Kingdom. Walking the UK soil for a couple of years she enjoyed the spotlight at Open Mic Nights and a couple of gigs in the London area. Returning to the Netherlands in 2007 she soon found herself two great musicians; bass-player Lennart van de Berg and drummer Niels van Rooij, to back her up at performances.

"Elly Kellner has a smooth, laidback delivery combined with precision and that is a potent and pleasing combination. Her work is imaginative, thought-provoking, interesting, inspiring, fresh, soothing, upsetting, fun, enjoyable!"
