About "Sellout Crowd"

"Sellout Crowd" is the first studio project from Central Indiana-based alternative rock band Zephr.

The collection of 10 original songs reflects a diversity of musical influences, and--delivered by this trio of talented young musicians--seems both fresh and reminiscent at the same moment.

Intertwined with Jimmy Sandberg''s extraordinary bass guitar lines and drummer Michael Ponce''s tight, driving rhythms, Carson Ponce''s voice and lead guitar weave tales of love and loss, of hope and disappointment, of loneliness and exhilaration.

The CD is remarkably diverse in style. Classic rock, Southern rock, Funk, and alternative rock genres are well represented, and the CD moves from track to track with energy, heart and surprise.

Considering the band members are ages 16 (Sandberg) and 17 (the Ponce''s are identical twin brothers), "Sellout Crowd" is both satisfying and intriguing. There is genuine appreciation for the quality of the performances, original music, and lyrics--and genuine speculation about where these three may take us next.

About the Band

Zephr is an alternative rock band comprised of (as they describe themselves) "three corn-fed Indiana boys": Jimmy Sandberg (age 16), and identical twin brothers Michael Ponce'' and Carson Ponce'' (age 17).

The band has become a standout at venues throughout Central Indiana, performing a growing repertoire of well-crafted, original songs to a growing, age-diverse fan base.

Zephr''s songs, with lyrics written by lead guitarist / lead singer Carson Ponce'', have been described as introspective, melodic, memorable, and reminiscent (in a GOOD way) of classic rock and alternative rock standards.

Bassist Jimmy Sandberg has eye-popping talent for a 16-year-old, and--frankly--for anyone at any age. At multi-band events where the Zephr plays, it''s not uncommon for band members from signed, headlining acts to walk out of backstage rooms and listen to a Zephr set after hearing a few of Jimmy''s frantic, fantastic bass riffs.

Anchoring (and driving) Zephr''s alternative sound is drummer Michael Ponce'', who plays in a classic-rock-inspired style that also shows flashes of alternative and metal influences. His backup vocals are the genetically-matched, high-harmony echoes of Carson’s leads.

Although Zephr primarily performs original music, the band occasionally throws a Credence, Tom Petty or Dylan cover into their live sets.

Influences include Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Eagles, Nirvana, Led Zeppelin, Bob Dylan, Jackson Browne, Rush, Smashing Pumpkins, Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles, The Mars Volta, Of Montreal, CCR and a whole host of metal bands that have influenced Jimmy Sandberg considerably.

Zephr''s first studio project, "Sellout Crowd," was recorded in April through June of 2008 at "The Gallows Recording Studio" in Muncie, Indiana. The CD was produced by Angry Planet Records (Indianapolis, IN) and released on Tuesday, August 12, 2008. "Sellout Crowd" is available via traditional retail outlets, and for purchase online at https://www.tradebit.com. The project will be available for purchase on iTunes in September, 2008.
