This is an exciting crossover for producer & engineer John Anaya who is a voting member of the National Academy Recording Arts and Sciences. (Grammy''s) He captivated live audiences as FOH sound and assistant to the musical director in the San Francisco production of Hedwig & the Angry Inch. He has been on Grammy award winning Sonoma County''s Prairie Sun Studios in house engineer list for 5 years. He has had the pleasure of working with Neko Case, Tom Waits, Primus, Taj Majal, Zakir Hussain, Steve Smith, Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Tony Jarvis, Michelle Shocked and UFO as an engineer.

Wasting the Spark features the brilliant guitar and captivating vocals of John Anaya, formerly of Northwest rock trio Chum , San Francisco''s psychedelic Swirl and Arizona''s funk-punk Knucklehead, who also carefully constructed the 11 songs on the record. The musical talents of Ray Ruiz on bass with a menagerie of drummers including Chris Clanin, Jeff Lievers, Darin Sudderth and Paulo Baldi(Cake,Deadweight,LesClaypool) and guest vocals by Jon Bryant.
John acts as musical director and guitarist for the theater pieces "Devil in the Deck" and "an Hour of Magic" featuring magician Paul Nathan. He has done extensive session work including producing country crossover newcomer Carl Lee.
