Jeff Frazier picked up the guitar when he was 13 years old and has been addicted ever since. He wrote the music for his first band, “Past the Void” at age 15 and produced and mixed it with the help of the awesome Terry Carleton. The band broke up after only one year but Jeff kept writing and planning for the next CD.
Over the years, Jeff became immersed in worship music by playing with worship teams across the bay area including South Valley Christian Church, Orchard Community Church, Church on the Hill, Cathedral of Faith and more. These venues gave Jeff a great deal of diversity having to play a broad range of styles on a weekly basis. Aside from playing live, Jeff was fortunate to have great recording opportunities such as worship albums by South Valley Christian Church and Church on the Hill. Jeff is also currently recording with local independent artists. Most recently, He recorded and co-produced “Shadows are Crawling” with Ben Vega combining his rock influence with Ben’s soulful vocals.
In the time between bands, Jeff worked tirelessly at becoming a force to be reckoned with on his axe. He studied many solo guitarists as well as bands to sharpen his skills. Some artists include Creed/AlterBridge, Joe Satriani, Eric Johnson, Foo Fighters, Pillar, Al Pitrelli, John Petrucci, POD, Lincoln Brewster and more. Above all else, Jeff constantly tries to strike a balance between technique and passion represented by his tastes in music. Aside from the actual shredding, Jeff is adamant about having tone that can be as heavy or light as needed. Most of his tone is modeled after Brian May’s Vox setup. On the Queens reunion tour with Paul Rodgers at the helm, Jeff was gripped by May’s tone which was mostly composed of stereo delay. From that point on, Jeff has been using a setup similar to May''s to achieve a tone that reflects modern taste with a respect for vintage gear.
As Jeff’s guitar playing evolved, so did his vocals. Jeff had been singing since he was 15 but didn’t feel prepared to call himself a vocalist until he gained more skill. He eagerly studied the talent of legendary rock singers such as Paul Rodgers, Chris Cornell, Michael Tait, John Waite, Myles Kennedy, and more to try and become a passionate yet meticulous vocalist. Through many hours of practice and enduring support and encouragement from his friends, Jeff sings on a regular basis for both worship music and for his own project and has found his voice and his soul in one sound.
The writing never ends! Jeff has written over 200 songs, all of which have very different styles from pop to hard rock. He believes that each song has its own story to tell. Jeff’s song writing style has been heavily influenced by talents such as DC talk, Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Geoff Moore, Soundgarden, Creed, POD, U2, and more.
The EP “Detour” contains songs that are both instrumental and lyrical in nature. The full CD will contain 12 to 13 songs and will better illustrate the theme of Detour. The motif is basically that we can interpret each unexpected turn in life as either a crisis or a journey. Jeff has found that the most successful and content people in life are those that daily choose the latter. It is important to note that Jeff doesn’t write songs about who he is but who he is striving to be. Jeff’s hope is that his music is as much an encouragement to his listeners as it is to himself. In the end, these songs are an expression of hope and are inspired by believers that have openly shared their stories of adversity overcome by God’s grace.
