This is the second quadrant of a 4 part series. Johnny Afro aims to dominate the music industry. The relevance of the Title of this album has historical influence. Back in the day the Black Panthers had instructions on how young black men should deal with issues of the draft, police brutality, civil rights and other day to day dealings. The successful youth were those that could follow the teachings and instructions.
1. Muhammad - Is symbolic and actual. Muhammad - Verbal Tech made this beat for me in 1992. it took me 13 years to actually write the lyrics. But there is a time and a place for everything. He also gave me some instructions. I will follow them. I am not Muslim but I have experience Ramadan (sp?). In dealings with some of this faith I have learned a lot about what motivates people to act. Muhammad was born a different name but took up the Muslim faith. This song lead off the album because it represents something. Muhammad was a brother quite older than me but I lingered on the wisdom he dropped about the history of black people in America. I never will know how much of his stories are true or not. But I learned a great deal from him like a big brother. He has been momentus influence in my formative hip hop endeavors. Please respect old black men is the motto of this blurb....
2. The Instructions - "This ain''t the town for clown this is the city for pretty." Nobody cares about your intentions. The bottom line is the end result. I will not compromise integrity for the bottom line. There are always consequences. You are not first to experience what you experience. There is a game plan laid out with divine guidance and intervention. Tune in and follow the instructions....
3. Out Of Control - Beat produced by Bay Area World Class Beat Maker Stag (Stagmotta). I told him this song was gonna go somewhere. He''s not sure. Can I get a witness. Together on this track we are outta contol. The lyrics explain the origin and reasoning about the track. Feel it, feel me, feel the struggle.....
4. It''s About To Go Down - This is a very good song. I didn''t like the drum rhythm when I first started but I forced myself to find a way to make the song creatively interesting for myself. I did a great job in the arrangement and compressing the drums so the hit a little harder and became bearable. This is now one of my favorite tracks and I would without a doubt represent myself with it. This is refelctivive of reaching my peak. It''s about to go down.
5. Every Soul - Basically there are starving artist all over the world who want to be heard, recognized, accepted, or just acknowledged existence. We artist have to create. We don''t know why we are chosen to rap, sing, produce, etc. But we must carry it out or we feel like the alternative is pretty much death. I create music and songs because I must. I don''t choose to do this. I got Stagmotta on this track too. Many music people will love the beat and many will catch up with your boy Johnny Afro one of the worlds most talented rappers.
6. Calculated Outcome - I made the music a long time ago and was torn between whether I liked It of not. This song was a milestone in my production techniques as I learned to use Acid Pro and the effects like eq and compression. I still have mixed emotion about this song. But it''s basically your results when you try to create a specific thing versus those lucky genioustic creations you come up with on a whim.
7. Oracle - My man Raggedy Andy lays this track down for me. Rags has never completely felt my flows or tracks but he is grateful that at least I do represent on them and complete the songs. Despite Andy not really feeling the tracks I lay down on his beats others do. Many tracks he has laid down for me went on to be represented in the old https://www.tradebit.com''s compilation cd''s and got recognition in various hip hop websites. (See Hard Headed on Afro Blast cd). This song is bout prophetic effect of song and music. Be careful what comes out your mouth because it may become truth whether you believe it or not.
8. It Matters - I had trouble finishing this song. I was basically trying to say details matter despite what you think. It just wasn''t working for me over the various renditions that I made of it. I think I felt sometimey reasonably comfortable with this take. Production cool. You decide!
9. Great Day Finale - I always liked this beat . I''m not sure if I helped or hurt the beat with the additional keyboard riffs I added later. Sometimes we need to stop. It was actually the last song I made on this album. It surmised a great day. I may have been a bit upset when I added the lyrics because I reference from the beginning that I will not apologize anymore to people that disrespect and defraud me.
10. Raise Your Hands - This was another song that I had trouble coming to grips with a final version of. I''m not feelin'' in on all days but the traditional underground hip hoppers seem to like it. It has the syncopated drums with not so much goofy keys. The drums are compressed and slightly maximized so they hit decent. I like my flows but this song just doesn''t stick in my head. I realize I''m supposed to sell myself on this page but in defense of my self. I did feel it was quality material, reflective and appropriate for this album and it''s place in the Quadrant of the Music industry takeover. It''s that Hank Aaron type song. All the stats are good but sometimes we might seek a little more flash. Yall will raise your hands to this!
