Knock It Out! a.k.a (Knockin'' Out)
This album is the resulting effect of a preceeding album "The Afro Blast". Yes the blast will knock out anything. This album, Knock It Out, is the third quandrant of my artistic expression for the first half of 2005.
The 4 corners of the Future : Blast, Instruct, Invade, Dominate... the music industry.
This third horseman carries the following message.
1. "Knock it Out - also chant (knockin'' out) periodically because the beat & track knock so hard tht you''ll sit in your car knockin'' out to the beat. This track brings back memories of true funk and is inspired by the Late Great Rick James bustin'' out. That influence coupled with Johnny Afro''s phenomenal flow make for an irresistible audio experience.
2. Lucky Season - is the contemporary candy shop track, similar to 50 cent. The Bass is unforgiving in Knockin'' you out. Lyrics flow with the commanding presence oa a man that knows the ropes. Ladies this is better than LL Cool J.
3. Quick Wit - This song was one I liked a lot when I made it. I moved it to #3 because it didn''t move me as much. Now it''s my favorite on the album again. Different days I feel different ways. Oh Well. This is an upbeat, uptempo track that makes you wanna dance. I really like the chorus flow and delivery. This is indicative of why Johnny Afro is one of my favorite rappers. Please enjoy!
4. This Journey of Ours - This is about life. Scary for some this journey we''re on. Then death....On this journey it''s all about learning...Learn something!
5. Saturday - It was Satuday and I decided to make this song. Rich D came by later and added a verse. But I wasn''t feelin'' it and dropped it from the album release version. This is a song about what was happening Saturday day.
6. Saturday Night - It was Saturday and then it was Saturday Night. Couldn''t think of another song so I wrote about Saturday night. Rich was still around so I kept his verse on this version. It was reasonably acceptable to me. He and I are so different. I think I''ll release a solo album of his variations. He has a fan base but we are going in two different directions. Nevertheless listen to our Saturday Night!
7. Is that What They''re Saying - I was just playing around when I made this song, but I really like it a lot. Everything seemed to fall into place properly. This will move the traditional hip hop heads. It has the simple semi-syncopated drums. The mix is right. The vocals are loud and clear. This is a must have track. It reflects on how people perceive you versus what you are.
8. Johnny B. Good - named after the classic Johnny B. Good. But my name is Johnny so the ish is about me....ok? Anyway this is me at my best with a slowed down simple clear flow. Hip hoppers of the world will unite to this. Classic line "You can''t defeat me even if you cheat!"... This is a lifetime jam.
9. Funk Wars - At one time in the game "The Man" had hip hoppers divided between gangsta rap, commercial, hip hop, etc. Basically it''s all an expression of what we go through. Anybody that pits one against the other is against both. Art is and that''s all it is. Don''t get caught up in funk about who or what is better and what is crap. That''s how the man sees the world...
10. Club Banger - Tried to make a song that would just sound good in the club. Not sure if I pulled it off. You''ll decide. Time will let me know. Experimental.
