My name is Jon Hines, I am a twenty four year old singer songwriter from Cape Breton Nova Scotia, and I''ve been involved with music my entire life. But I only really started playing guitar at the age of sixteen. Since then I''ve had some wonderful experiences and some not so wonderful experiences on the road / during festivals. My musical experiences started during high school when I joined my first band. I had started out playing electric lead and rhythm guitar for a metal band. I shortly grew tired of playing cover songs and quiet, starting another band where I was able to progress as a writer. "Malicious Mark & the Wasted Generation" was formed by some good music, and good friends. I had played bass guitar in this band which lasted almost two years. We wrote a lot of fast pace groovy songs with lots of vibe and soul. Finally due to musical differences and personal differences between the band mates, it was time to go on a permanent hiatus, and form a new harder rock band. During the summer of 05 I was booked with this band to open for Goride Sampson, and before the show we all just played some hackie sack, fun times on a Sunday afternoon. "Entropy" was the title of the band, we had some brief success around the local area at the time, opening for Gordie Sampson, playing for teen dances and for live concerts.
The band was short lived after the band mates decided it was time to move on to brighter things, school and jobs awaited the other two members of the band, but I''ve always had music. No matter what happens with my personal life, music is always there for me. Having such a love of music has allowed me to branch into so many different styles over the years and be heavily influenced by everything I take in. Currently I have an audio engineering degree from ''The Center for Arts & Technology", a demo CD from 2006 and my first album to date titled "The Jon Hines Show - Gary the Bus Driver". On the album I have some friends come in and play on the tracks with me, Stephen Hughes from the Blown Gasket Orchestra plays stand up bass, keyboards and piano, while Chris Brown of Nicknameless plays drums and sing harmony vocals. The album release date had gotten pushed back a few times due to funding, but it is finally ready and printed, and is to be released in June of 2008. I am very busy working out dates with some good friends and also promo kits. I would like to thank you for taking the time to read my short but accurate BIO.
