POP: Piano, ROCK: Classic Rock
Born and still residing in Toronto, Ontario Canada, Jory has been a diversified on-stage performer for several years. His performing arts background includes songwriting, singing, piano playing, acting and involvement in comedy/improv routines.
His music has been described as an upbeat "happy rock" with a vocal style similar to Elvis or Tom Jones.
As you can hear on this CD, he enjoys writing in many different musical styles - pop, rock, reggae, country, disco, etc.
Although always having a flare for the creative, Jory didn''t begin to seriously study music until after graduating from high school. His formal musical studies also included 13 years of voice training at the Royal Conservatory of Music (in Toronto).
He began his professional career playing piano and singing as half of a lounge-duo that performed throughout Southern Ontario. He also performed for private parties, corporate functions and many coffeehouse shows.
Jory released 2 original singles (remember vinyl?) to radio stations across Canada (one in 1981 and one in 1986). The singles were well received and several stations played the recordings as part of their on-air programming.
His experience in comedy/improv includes graduating from the Toronto Second City Masterclass where he co-wrote the Masterclass'' final graduation show.
He also wrote two Fringe Festival of Toronto comedy shows that were very well received:
1. "It Happened in Hogtown" (a series of comedy skits) - 1996
2. "Human Being" (an original musical/comedy) - 1998 Human Being was unique because the actors in the play were also the musicians for the play!
Jory added to he comedian repertoire when he studied stand-up comedy in New York City and performed twice in public shows at the "Stand Up New York" nightclub.
