Now, about "Hello Hello"...
"Hello Hello" is the latest studio CD/EP from Minneapolis based pop/rock singer-songwriter Jim Pellinger. Written and performed entirely by Jim, tunes on Hello Hello include the anthemic title track, the poppy "Gray Day" (an ode to procrastination featuring Beatlesque backing vocals), the "Squeeze crossed with jazzy R&B" of "Little Wild One", the "Beatles meet Clapton" blues of "Forgiven", and the reflective "Remember Summertime".

Hello Hello is the second in a series of CD/EP releases which began with 1999''s Knives & Bleeding. Featuring soulful, riff-laden tunes with clever lyrics, songs from Knives & Bleeding have been played on 770 Radio K and KFAI in Minneapolis, as well as on Radio Milo in Belgium. To promote the CD, Jim began performing with his new band, Jim Pellinger and the Folkups. Knives & Bleeding also garnered favorable reviews:

"What Pellinger has here is the demo for his album with his new band. The new band, called The Folkups, is Mitch Griffin on drums, Mike Stern on guitar and vocals and David Meirer on drums (sic). Although Pellinger has a new band, he has released these songs, recorded completely by him. Knives & Bleeding gives the listener a sort of sketchbook view of what to expect from the Folkups. Apparently, Pellinger knows that the public has a short memory, and the demos will keep him there like a bookmark.
Pellinger''s subject mater is relationships and romantic politics. The thing that makes this demo fun is his song construction and his insights into the fanciful foibles of the human race. It also helps that his musical sense is strong. Pellinger has a gift for the kind of music he is playing. His sound and method are that of, say, Tom Petty or maybe Elvis Costello albeit he sounds like neither. What he does have is a basic, blue collar, common denominator-type thing.
Go see him. When you can get the Folkups record, fork over the cash. The record will be called Into The Blue. You won''t be disappointed." T. Alexander--Pulse of the Twin Cities July 2000

From his beginning as a solo performer while a student at the University of Wisconsin, singer-songwriter Jim Pellinger has performed for audiences at clubs and colleges in the US as well as Central America. His blend of folk-pop-rock has earned him critical praise and accolades from such sources as the Billboard Song Contest, the Music City Song Festival and Musician Magazine''s Best Unsigned Band Competition, which named him a semifinalist in 1997.

Jim''s first release was 1996''s All Dressed Up And All Stressed Out. A dedicated follower of the "do-it-yourself" ethic, Jim recorded the project in his home studio and released it as a cassette on his own label, Door To Door Music. Armed with an acoustic guitar and a box of cassettes, Jim began selling copies of All Dressed Up... show-to-show and door-to-door (pun intended). Critics began taking notice of All Dressed Up... and had things like this to say:

"Jim''s first release is a wonderful collection of brilliantly understated pop, folk and rock. Playing all the instruments himself, Jim''s arrangements are nearly perfect. Honed down to the point of no excess, all the hooks, melodies and vocal harmonies stand in perfect balance.
As a songwriter, he hits the mark consistently as he covers topics of love, spirituality and politics. Even better, he never loses the sense of humor that is often the only difference between a song and an act of self indulgence. Unlike many singer/songwriters, Jim''s music never becomes an emotional burden on his audience. The album''s opener, "New Face On The World," may be as close to a perfect song as you get. It''s all there, love, spirituality, the perfect arrangement, and even a beautiful mix.
Door To Door Music is Jim''s own label (and this is it''s first release). If you still believe that the virtues of hard work are more important than big corporate money (and even if you still need to be convinced) the proof is on the tape." Bill Snyder--The Squealer May/June 1996

"I believe I have found a brand new addition to my permanent music collection! "All Dressed" is an impressive grouping of folk/pop songs by Jim Pellinger. Jim not only proves he can harmonize with himself (not an easy thing for some people!), but he also performs every instrument here (even percussion!) and knows how to put together a catchy tune. PLUS, he also writes a killer lyric. I caught strains of John Hiatt, Squeeze, R.E.M., and a little bit of Simon and Garfunkel within Jim''s songs about Love. Not just another bunch of "LOVE" songs, "All Dressed" has nine songs about loving the earth ("New Face On The World"), the anticipation of a brand new baby ("Ready Now"), the end of old relationships ("Your Favorite Song"), and the beginnings of new relationships ("Breaking And Entering" and "Here For My Mile"). There is even a song here for those of you who know a Wanda! Jim is even talented enough to add "social commentary" to his release with a song about guns ("Ducking For Cover"). Add some nice production work and pleasing cassette packaging to all of the above and you too can find a better-than-average work by Jim Pellinger." Susan Hoppe--Cake Magazine Vol. 11 Issue 40
