Hello my name is John Borom Jr., a.k.a. JQWEST, I was born in Gary, Indiana, on September 28, 1980. I am a 25 year old Graduate of Horace Mann High School. I received my Associates Degree in Business Management from Commonwealth Business College.
I have been rapping since 1995 and I released my first single in 1999. I''ve been in and out of various groups due to lack of dedication and commitment on their behalf. In 2001 I became part of an organization called Blackmail Entertainment. During this time we tagged poles with posters for street promotions, sold CD''s on the street, did shows and Open Mic nights throughout Gary, South Bend, and Michigan City. It came to an end due to bad money management and lack of communication. I don''t regret any of my past situations because to me they were good learning experiences.
At this time I started to teach myself how to produce and engineer. Music is like a sanctuary to me that is the only way I can release myself. I don''t curse in my music because I feel there are to many words you can use in the dictionary and that using profanity constantly is a way of getting around thinking or being creative with word usage.
What I am trying to bring to the table is more production creativity, music that can be enjoyed by all colors and ages, and music that will let the consumer know that there is more to life than just money, sex, drugs, and guns.
You asked me to send my best work, that was the hardest thing because everyday I get better. The reason that it is just now getting to you is because I just made one of these songs a couple of days ago. I remixed down the other songs because to me the first impression is always the most important element. I am asking you to listen to my style of production, the way I engineer, and my lyrical capabilities and let me know your honest opinion, if I have what it takes or if I need to improve.
In the summer of 2003 I signed with On Top Music Productions Company in Houston, Texas. I have been working
on my solo album titled "Times Up", due to be released in the early part of 2005. I have performed during the Springbreak weekend in South Padre Island, and HOOD FEST 03 in Houston, Texas.
I was the "Opening Act" for YING YANG TWINS, LIL JOHN & EASTSIDE BOYS, & YOUNG BLOODS at the first annual "Love of Hip Hop Tour" HOOD FEST 03 in Houston, Texas.
