Details:
Susan Stokes is from the Sunshine Coast, north of Vancouver, British Columbia, where there are miles of beautiful beaches. She had lots of older brothers and sisters who turned her onto music at an early age. She started music in Grade Five with Mr. Cole on recorder, and he introduced her to all of the instruments in the orchestra. In Grade Six she entered the band program on flute, and in Max Cameron High Susan toured with the concert band. She played with many musical theatre productions, and after high school enrolled in Vancouver Community College School of Music studying flute and singing in the college choir with Jon Washburn. Later Susan studied jazz singing in San Francisco, and once back in Vancouver she sang rock and R&B in her own band called Rosetta’s Stone. Vancouver was a fantastic land of discovery where Susan did studio work for other musicians, sang in an all-women’s band complete with horn section, and worked on many television shows. When she later moved to Seattle she continued working on television shows and movies, and finally started writing and recording exclusively at Alternative Studios. Currently she is living in Eastern Washington near Spokane where she works with children in the classroom, sings in choir, and is working on her fantastic new album. Susan Stokes is "The Singing Social Worker!"
