Details:
Stephanie Delk was born and raised in upstate New York. her father’s dreams of having her become a star basketball player were dashed when it was discovered that although she was quite tall she was terribly uncoordinated. Without the burden of team sports Stephanie focused on her music, taking singing and piano lesson from age nine on.
In the Fall of 1997 Stephanie was accepted to Berklee College of Music where she earned a degree in Music Business and Management. At Berklee she''s studied jazz, country, as well as pop before finding her niche in the folk/rock genre. Prompted by her coursework in 1999 she began to teach herself guitar and that is how she became a singer/songwriter. A published poet, Stephanie was compelled to put her words to music as she learned a new instrument.
Stephanie has spent much of her career singing back up, first for Drama Pop artist Justin Tranter (now Precious of Semi Precious Weapons), and then for 70s rock cover band the The Goods, (NYC) after a year singing covers she was pushed by (a move back to Boston) and her bandmates to pursue her own music. In 2002 she recorded a 7-song EP Simple & Plain (unreleased) with Will Kennedy (Kennedy Audio). Prior to this recording she recorded 2 three song EPs and lent her voice to various projects including Stephen Webber’s Turntable Technique- The Art of the DJ (’00)
After a move to Austin, TX Stephanie worked with members of Basin Street, Drop Trio, and About: Blank in a compilation band call The Fever in the Funkhouse. Together they performed the entirety of Rolling Stones “Exile on Main Street”, and selections from The Who’s discography, including a performance of “Acid Queen” at Berklee College of Music’s Alumni showcase at SXSW 2007.
Aside from performing in clubs Stephanie has also appeared on stage at Scottish Rite Theatre as a part of the holiday musical, The Plight Before Christmas, and as The King in the children’s adaptation of Rumplestiltskin. She is a published poet, a talented actress and brilliant performer.
