are greatly exaggerated.
The case of Pat Longo is a singular one, for he was a late bloomer both as a leader and as a professional musician. Born
Pasquale Pizzolongo in Passaic,new jersey, he played clarinet
in high school,but except for a summer with a band in the
https://www.tradebit.com went directly from school into the United States
Marines.
In service he played in the Second Marine Air Wing Band in
Cherry Point,N.C. Back in civilian life he headed for California where he studied at the Westlake College of Music,
working part time in a nightclub band.
Instead of finally getting a full-scale career underway after three years at Westlake he settled for the security of a job in a bank, rising to the position of V.P. and remained there for a solid if not swinging 20 years.
Longo took up playing full time on a regular basis in 1974. After working off and on with Lee Castle,conductor of the Jimmy Dorsey orchestra,he joined Harry James on New Year''s
Eve at the MGM Hotel in Las Vegas and remained with James,playing alto and clarinet until late l978.
Upon leaving the James band he started his own group and
with Harry''s help and advice,with big band charts he was on
his way....Since the starting the band....
They have performed at some of the top-level events
around the country.
Academy Awards with a 30 piece orchestra...adding 12 strings to the band...
