Details:
Kathy has been writing and composing music for as long as she can remember. At age five she began her piano studies in Seoul, Korea, and quickly learned to play Beethoven''s "Fuhr Elise" and other classical standards that young piano students traditionally learn. Her constant improvising and re-interpretations of the works of classical composers did not go over well with her strict piano teachers, and by age eight, she felt so discouraged that she stopped taking lessons altogether.

Her love of music did not stop, however, and she continued to immerse herself in it; taking up the cello, singing and performing in musicals, orchestras and choirs throughout high school and college. After receiving her bachelors degree with honors in Anthropology at the State University of New York at Albany, Kathy pursued a career in commercial advertising in New York City and the metropolitan Washington D.C. area. Working for a myriad of high profile corporate clients, churning out all kinds of billboard campaigns and printed material, Kathy soon became weary and restless as she had virtually no time to cultivate and develop the creativity within her. Encouraged by friends and co-workers who continually brought to her attention that she was always "humming and singing in the hallways", she decided to change her career path and focus on writing and creating music and art instead.

In 1997 she produced her first cd, a self titled compilation of acoustic piano and vocal songs which were partly inspired by Frank McCourt''s Pulitzer prize winning memoir, "Angela''s Ashes". Her second release in 2000, "Wake Me", demonstrated her growth as a songwriter and music producer, as well as her ability to blend soft pop, celtic and a ''broadway-esque'' singing style.

Kathy''s creative breakthrough came in the Spring of 2002 process. Without any songs pre-conceived or written down she entered the studio and performed "stream of consciousness" music writing. In less than three weeks time she wrote and recorded all fourteen tracks on the album. The result is a surprising, eclectic, but accessible mix of electronic pop, ethereal vocals, acoustic textures with paradoxical lyrics and memorable hooks. The sound has been described as a blend of Enya, Sarah McLachlan, Kate Bush, Bjork, Tori Amos, Loreena McKinnett and Dido.

WHAT ELSE? Kathy is a member of the National Academy of the Recording Arts and Sciences and performs in the Washington Symphony Orchestra with her 120 year old cello.
In between scoring independent films she enjoys whipping up all kinds of cakes in her spare time, and finds decorating them to be very therapeutic. Red Velvet, Lemon, and Swiss Chocolate Orange are her specialty flavours.
