Details:
Serious Guitar Radio on live 365 called Curtis Jones "The most innovative Guitarist since Django Reinhardt, and the most Technical since Al Di Meola.. in short Curtis is the most original Guitar virtuoso in recent memory, and one of the best Guitarist on the planet.
Curtis has toured and recorded with some of the biggest names in Acoustic music including Patty Loveless, Dan Tyminski, Allison Brown, Bryan Sutton, Jim Hurst, Missy Raines, Tim Stafford, Shawn Lane, The Schankman Twins and many more.

In addition to composing over 800 pieces of music and creating new ways to play the guitar, Curtis Jones has toured and played music for over 17 years. He started playing the guitar as a teenager in 1986, and quickly became the premier flatpicking guitarist in the Atlanta Georgia area. In 1990 Curtis continued his musical journey by forming Misery River, which was one of the most exciting ensembles in the south east. Whenever and wherever the band played the crowds watched and listened in amazement to the power, speed and cleanliness of Curtis'' guitar playing.

In the early 1990?s Mr. Jones started writing songs, composing music, and developing his innovative way to play the guitar. This unique guitar style originated from a fusion of influences and styles of music from around the world, such as Flamenco, Flatpicking, Gypsy, Jazz, Classical, Middle Eastern, Fado, Celtic, Oriental and Rock, This combining of many musical genres has evolved into one of the most difficult and original guitar styles in
the history of the instrument.

In the winter of 1994 Mr. Jones went on the road for a four month tour with famed Atlanta Actor/Writer Tom Key, and a cast of four musicians to perform Cotton Patch Gospel This gave Curtis an opportunity to perform for theater crowds and expand his audience beyond Bluegrass Music. Cotton Patch Gospel played for full houses all over the East Coast and the Mid West.. The band in particular received consistent high praises from fans and
critics alike for the high energy output in the show.

After the Cotton Patch tour ended Curtis was hired to work in a studio supervised by Jeff Childs of Magnolia Grove Music. Not only was Mr. Child in charge of recording , he was also in charge of contracting much of the music for the Nashville Network''s popular Roland Martin and Orlando Wilson Fishing shows. He was significantly impressed with Curtis technical ability'' and his original instrumental music, and hired Curtis to write and play sound tracks. Since that time, most of the music on the fishing shows is the original music of Curtis Jones. In fact, Curtis'' music is a big part of the success of their shows.

1995/1998 In the Fall of 1995 Curtis'' mastery of the guitar and contagious energy caught the attention of the Schankman Twins, a young up and coming bluegrass act from L.A. California. With the addition of Curtis, the Schankman Twins band skyrocketed to the top of the acoustic music world playing every major bluegrass festival
and venue in the country, The band did a number of tours in Ireland, England and Germany. Everywhere the Schankmans performed there was thunderous applause after each Guitar solo.

In 1998 John Moore ,the mandolinist with the California based Bluegrass Etc band, filled in for a season with the Schankman Twins. The chemistry between Curtis'' Guitar and John''s Mandolin playing was intoxicating, leading John to ask Curtis to perform double duties and play with his California based group Bluegrass etc. It was with the
super picking Bluegrass Etc. that Curtis demonstrated a never before seen level of finesse and blinding speed. The combination of Curtis on Guitar, John Moore on Mandolin and Dennis Caplinger on Banjo was Jaw dropping. The group toured all over the U.S. and enjoyed major success in Europe and abroad.

In 1998 Blue As I, was released featuring eleven vocals and one instrumental piece, all written by Mr. Jones. Curtis felt honored to include several of his acoustic music heros, which by this time had become good friends. , In addition to Curtis the project features Dan Tyminski (Alison Krauss and Union Station/Oh Brother Where Art Thou), Alison Brown(Alison Krauss and Union Station/Grammy winner), Shawn Lane and Tim Stafford {Blue Highway}, Missy Raines(5 time IBMA Bass player of the year), Dana and Lauren Schankman, Duane Compton, Donica Christensen, Dave Webb and Terry Holland. This recording became a Trend Setter in the world of Bluegrass and recieved a steller highlight review from Bluegrass Unlimited magazine.

In 1998/99 Curtis, was busy touring with the Shankman Twins band, playing and recording with Bluegrass etc, performing with his own Bluegrass Band Lonesome Timber, and helping to form the Atlanta jam band Blueground Undergrass with good friend Rev Jeff Mosier. If that wasn''t enough, Curtis was composing and recording soundtracks music for television, and doing countless studio work for demos and recording projects.

In 2000 Curtis formed a group called Acoustic Room which provided many new directions for Curtis'' music, The band was a unique blend of several different music styles rolled into one fiery sound. Curtis was featured on Acoustic, Electric and Flamenco Guitar, Mandolin, Sitar, and Vocals. Jazz Fiddle Wizard Martin Norgaard
played Fiddle, Violin and Keyboards. Dave Webb was on Bass and Lawson White performed on Drums and Percussion. In the Winter of 2000 Acoustic Room released a CD for Major Records, featuring songs written by Curtis. The remainder of 2000 found Mr. Jones on tour, with performances in Italy, Spain, Germany, Switzerland, England, Ireland, Sweden, France, Denmark, Romania and Russia.

In 2001 Curtis and long time friend Martin Norgaard released the Norgaard-Jones project of instrumental pieces composed by Curtis. The disc focuses on Curtis'' favorite style of Guitar which is Flamenco, including emotional performances dedicated to friends that passed on early in the year. With the success of the project came two different European tours, the first covered Germany, France and Ireland, the second England, Germany, Italy, France , Switzerland and Spain. As we can see Mr Jones has been touring extensively overseas since the mid
90''s and plans to continue traveling throughout his career. Curtis is also no stranger to European culture. His grand mother was from the Sovalli family and an Immigrant from Sicily Italy, and his mother Frances Juanita has roots in Spain. Curtis is very proud of his Italian and Spanish Heritage, and when performing on the Flamenco Guitar goes by his Italian name of Cortini.

2002 found Curtis back in the Theater world as Musical Director for Woody Guthrie''s American Song at the prestigious Alliance Theater in Atlanta Georgia. In addition to his duties as Musical Director, Curtis performed in the show playing Guitar, Banjo, Mandolin Mandola, Penny Whistle, and Dobro. In the Summer of 2002 Curtis played guitar on mandolinist and good friend Jeff Midkiff''s CD project, Partner''s In Time. The power duo then toured Europe performing an array of different styles of music featuring original compositions from Curtis'' previous three recordings, and Mr. Midkiffs CD. To complete 2002, Curtis performed in the Art Station Theater''s
production of Yule Tide Journey.

In 2003 Curtis toured England as a solo artist, performing all original guitar compositions ranging from Classical Caprices to Sonatas, Flatpicking in open tunings, Flamenco and a Folk/Rock finger style guitar for accompanying his vocals. ''I enjoy touring as a solo artist says Curtis, It''s very challenging composing and playing pieces that keep the listeners attention, I do miss the interaction of other musicians when they are not present, but I also enjoy the freedom of being on stage by myself, flying in whatever direction I feel like going at the time''. In addition to performing live shows, Curtis conducted Guitar workshops, taught in the schools and gave private lessons. In December of 2003 Mr. Jones did a duo tour in England with World Champion Banjo player John Dowling.

Currently work is progressing on a DVD featuring Curtis playing original compositions on selected vintage instruments manufactured prior to 1944. Also to come is an instruction DVD where Curtis discusses his blazing speed on Guitar and teaches the viewer exercises and patterns to increase speed and improve technique.
