From Detroit, bassist Patrick Prouty and guitarist John Barron present Tunnel and Bridge, a duo recording of original progressive jazz, released in August of 2008.

For years, long-time friends and musical associates Patrick Prouty and John Barron had discussed a duo recording project. Finally, in the summer of 2007, the two musicians came together at the renowned Big Sky studio in Ann Arbor, MI, and in one afternoon, recorded eight original compositions and a re-harmonized medley of "Oh Canada" and "The Star Spangled Banner." The music is inspired by, and dedicated to the memory of musicians Alberto Rosal and Odessa Harris.

Patrick Prouty - bass

Patrick Prouty is a veteran bassist/composer from Detroit, MI. His previous side-man gigs have included playing with Bill Heid, Johnnie Bassett, Jan Krist, Al and Whit Hill, Alberta Adams and many other artists. From 2000 until 2007, he was the bassist for soul legend Bettye Lavette. During his tenure with Lavette he toured all over North America, Europe and Japan. In 2007 Patrick received a master’s degree in improvisation from The University of Michigan. Patrick has won numerous awards including a Handy, multiple Detroit Music Awards and was the winner of the Block M Records New Music Award in 2006. In October of 2007 Patrick released his first recording as a leader entitled The Charmed Life. It is a jazz quartet recording of all original Prouty compositions with an all-star cast of Detroit musicians. In 2008 The Charmed Life won the Detroit Music Award for Best Jazz Recording.

John Barron - guitar

Canadian born bassist/guitarist John Barron has been performing professionally for over twenty years. He has appeared on numerous recordings as a bassist and guitarist, including CD’s by vocalists Odessa Harris and Sheila Landis, award winning Latin jazz group Tumbao Bravo, jazz pianist Mark Thibodeau and two releases under his own name. He is the founder and leader of the progressive jazz group Trio Reenactment. John has performed with numerous artists in a variety of musical genres. Performance highlights include concerts throughout Europe and the Caribbean with Grammy nominated soul diva Bettye Lavette and throughout the U.S. with Motown legends The Contours. John holds a Master''s of Music degree from Oakland University, has had articles published on jazz education and previously served on the jazz faculty at the University of Windsor.
