Billy Squire and The Rye are a grass-roots rock band with a sound that encompasses the genres of Americana, Alt. Country and Blues. The debut album "Truth and Treason" will be released in August of 2008 through Holland House Records in New Zealand.
Retrieving his Gibson SG from a ceiling cavity in the Chelsea Hotel, Billy Squire proceeded on a journey south to record a great American album. Fully induced with the Adarondak Mountains in the Hudson Valley and Dusting off the red Moroccan sand from his green ex-army canvas bag, Billy set forth for the greener pastures of New Zealand. Riding in on the last Marrakesh Express out of late 60''s and early 70''s country blues, Squire now has his deep, Americana, soulful album.
This album expresses dense, moving, musical landscapes. Resurrected with classic Chet Atkins picking and Duane Allman slide Guitars. With help from various members from bands such as The Heavy Jones, SPA and Salon Kingsadore, pumping rhythm sections, Chunky Power Chords and epic riffs abound in this tightly interwoven album.
