Details:
Jayne Bryant is an independent singer/songwriter hailing from the creative musical hotspot of Perth, Western Australia.
Jayne’s musical dreams began in the lounge room as she’d dance and sing along to every ABBA song there was… It wasn’t until she was completing the third year of her Science Degree University of Western Australia, and the lingering expectation to ‘get a real job’ that she decided to put more of her focus and energy into her musical dreams.
Jayne avoided getting a real job by moving to the mecca of Australian Cool (aka Melbourne) to study Music Performance at North Melbourne Institute of Tafe for a year. It was there she first sang in front of people and began writing songs.
Jayne returned home to Perth, and with the support of some friends in the local music industry she recorded and released her debut EP called ‘The PCYC Jams’ – named after the Police and Citizens Youth Club in Subiaco which had a magnificently cheap ($2!!) rehearsal room, and where the songs were rehearsed and recorded.
The first song on the CD, ‘Girl Next to Me’, won a competition on commercial radio station ‘PMFM 92.9’ winning airplay and inclusion on a compilation CD put out by the station. The local community radio station RTR 92.1 also chose to play all of the songs on the album.
‘Goodbye Song’ was nominated for a coveted WAMI (West Australian Music Industry Association) Song-writing Award in 2000.
In 2001, these two tracks plus ‘All I Am’, ‘Still Here’ and ‘Fishbowl’ were picked up by Shock Music Publishing for use in the now internationally famous Australian/Canadian TV series ‘The Saddle Club’.
Jayne has played gigs in Perth, Tokyo and London, both solo and with her bands, and is just as comfortable playing for a few (her English students), or hundreds (her recent CD Launch at The Floreat Hotel).
‘Just As It Should’ is an album that has been years in the making, showing the versatility and depth of this talented Australian songstress.
‘Just As It Should’ is Jayne’s first full-length album, including the five tracks from ‘The PCYC Jams’ EP, as well as 14 fantastic new songs, which range in style from gentle acoustic heartfelt outpourings, to funky tunes of fun, words of humour and life, to jangly guitar pop.
The CD cover is made using 100% recycled paper and card, and printed using vegetable and soy based inks.
This new album is available online through CD baby and for digital download on i-tunes.
