CD BABY RECOMMENDS!

"A great collision of songwriters, this CD reminds us of what trading stories through songs is all about." Isound.

Killed Our Darlings is an 11 song split album by Tim Pak and Sean Madigan Hoen. Killed Our Darlings features 5 songs a piece from Tim and Sean, as well as a collaboration on a cover a Neil Young''s "Like a Hurricane." ORDER NOW.

Tim Pak cut his teeth in the 1980s punk band Angry Red Planet, who released a number of records and toured the U.S. and Germany. He started Woodhshed Studio in the early 1990s, which would become a hub for the Detroit underground and played an important part in the city''s music scene. Tim returned to live music in the early 2000s with the rootsy Salt Miners. On Killed Our Darlings Tim releases his first solo material, a powerful collection of originals and covers that were inspired by nationwide road trips, wanderlust and solitude. Hopefully this is the first set in a long line of Tim Pak recordings.

Sean Madigan Hoen formed the avant hardcore band Thoughts of Ionesco in early 1996, whom Spin magazine called "an absolute mindfuck." The band toured and released several records before imploding amidst a minuscule yet erratic fan base. Hoen then founded Leaving Rouge and later The Holy FIre, which focused on melody and song writing. Killed Our Darlings releases Hoen''s acoustic-based work for the first time. Having chosen to use his full legal name "because it looks rediculous," Hoen''s first full-length album The Liquor Witch will be released later this year on Portland''s Greyday Records.

Killed Our Darlings brings together two songwriters from different generations. Their respective cover songs, Tim''s version of the classic "Goodnight, Irene" and Sean''s take on Black Flag''s "Rise Above," betray their influences but help tie together an album the shouldn''t make sense but, somehow, does.
