Louisiana Odyssey is a collection of vignettes of Kleinpeter''s home state. Mysterious and earythral, sad and retrospective, Kleinpeter, self-proclaimed "Swamp Yanni", paints an honest look at people and places in his life "down on the bayou."
Kenny Kleinpeter started composing in mid-life in 1999. "Writing music," he says, "is much easier with life experience under your belt."
Kleinpeter learned piano as a child taking private lessons from age 8 to 18. After marrying and doing a "hitch" in the Navy, he attended LSU Music School and worked for the family business.
After raising two children and becoming vice-president of his family''s company, he was slapped by the "mid-life crisis" of unobtained spirituality and purpose in life.
While he played the organ and piano for various churches, it was not enough to satisfy his musical lust.
At the tender, old age of 45, he cashed in his chips and set up a home studio.
With a wealth of life experience behind him, he set about recording it in musical form.
His first CD, Freedom was released in 1999. Two releases followed in 2000 and his latest, Louisiana Odyssey was released in 2001.
