Aaron Eugene Theodore Klump- (August 31, 1974- )
While growing up in Vancouver his first seventeen years, Aaron was exposed to music from many angles. His grandfather Walter Cleland-founder of the Vancouver Symphony-along with his mother and grandmother set the stage for his musical instincts to expand. Instruments about the house, symphony concerts on the weekends, and family carols at the holidays define his childhood. What began as trumpet lessons in 5th grade, gradually grew into choir practice, private vocal study, solo contests, piano lessons, guitar study, composition and theory, and eventually a Bachelor''s degree in Music Business from Central Washington University in 1999. At that point, Aaron took his musical expression to the next level with a live album entitled "The Taboo Concert" which was comprised entirely of his own writing; it became apparent at that time that his music comes with a message. His self-coined ''spirit folk'' reveals a naked honesty in touching on experiences and emotions common to the human condition. He is driven to affect and encourage his listeners by sharing his own struggles and discoveries. His melodies reveal his thoughts about God, love, purpose, spirituality, as well as expose raw, human emotion. His music is greatly stimulated also by his international experience, which includes a year in each of Korea and Norway, and footsteps through Canada, Mexico, Honduras, Denmark, Sweden, Germany and England. He now lives back in Vancouver with his wife Hillary where, among other pursuits, they enjoy scuba diving and most recently, remodeling their new home.
On "Han Gook - Piano Music":
This piano music was a blip in time, keys played and forgotten in my expression of something felt in the moment. I played these melodies not as a performance to you, but rather as an expression and release from myself to something higher. The music is neither composed nor conscious, but simply an outpouring of my love. Only that they are captured in this recording, is there any human knowledge these harmonies ever occurred. Like a history book, this album can tell you stories of my love and my folly. That said, I doubt if this album is about me at all. These improvisations have found you, and when you set your ears to hear, you will be reminded of whom you have loved and when you''ve felt the pain of loss and the joy of life. I anticipate you will find a story in every song, and that these stories will change through the years as your life writes and rewrites itself with each new day. My intention with this album is that you open your heart to these sounds and find peace.
