Details:
FIREBALL (aka Rohan Richards) is a star of the Trinidadian soca music scene whose international hit, “What I Want” blazed its way to the number one spot on music charts all over Europe, becoming a #1 Club, radio and chart hit and for a time, Europe’s #1 ITunes / Europe download, spreading the infectious rhythms of the Caribbean Soca style of music to a worldwide audience!

Richards wrote the original version of “What I Want” with dj/tv host “TC” Callendar and Trinidad music producer Richard “Char Su” Ahong. The song became a hot favourite for Carnival 2007 in his home country of Trinidad and Tobago. Music impresario, Christian Carbaza sent the Caribbean hit to Euro remix star, Bob Sinclar … and his version initially launched the international hit.

““What I Want”” showcases FIREBALL’s unique singing/chanting operatic vocal style that makes a FIREBALL record instantly identifiable and which has rocked club charts worldwide.

Rohan Richards was born on September 7, 1980, where he grew up as the eldest of five in the small Trinidadian village of Sea Lots. “I’ve been singing since I was aware that I could,” Richards said. Even then, the beginnings of FIREBALL’s unique operatic chanting/singing twist that showcases his unique singing style, was already beginning to develop. “I would always put my own spin on the melody”, he said. At 16, he entered a neighbourhood ‘chant out’ competition where he was rechristened “FIREBALL.” The chant out “changed my life,” he said.

Fast-forward to 2006, where Richards had honed his chanting, singing and songwriting talents to a fine point and was beginning to attract attention in his homeland. Richards entered the first edition of Synergy TV’s hit show “SOCA STAR” competition, the top rated tv show which is the Caribbean’s equivalent of AMERICAN IDOL. At the tv show’s finals, held at the National Stadium, FIREBALL sung his own composition Danger and won the show, becoming the 2006 “Soca Star”, effectively launching his career to a new level!

FIREBALL hopes the worldwide success of “What I Want” will help spread the word that Caribbean music and the infectious rhythms of Soca music are undeniable and poised to penetrate the world music scene!
