There is a new groove on the streets with a sound that is definitely contagious. Their music is now grounded in Christianity and its branches speak in musical tongues of Praise, Hip Hop and R & B. Salt and Light Harvest Outreach says "the anointed gospel group, Kontagiouz Soundz, with its positive lyrics and contagious beat, is energizing and electrifying on stage." Rhonda Edwards (director) Salt and Light Harvest Outreach. The music is Christian in one aspect yet there''s also a predominate flavor of alternative, urban appeal that captures the attention of a diverse audience.
Urban Contemporary Gospel recording artists Kontagiouz Soundz, out of Sacramento, California, spend their time making their dreams become a reality. Currently, they are focusing their attention on the production, touring, and distribution of their brand new CD titled, "A Psalmist''z Reformation" due to be released in July of 2004. The CD took over two years to complete because of various members coming and going but now with the stable members intact of Shaleun Harold (Tyche), Jay Turner (Jayce), and Christopher S. Harold (Trill Notez), together since November 2000, and with the newest addition Brandon Hogan (Mike tha Mezzenjah), joining October 2003, the group now feels its their time inform the world what''s been missing in the music industry. The group is working under C. Harold''s label, Kontagiouz Soundz Producktionz, formed in February of 2001 as a modest production company that managed one alternative Christian hip-hop group that featured Turner and S. Harold called TLF (The Lord''s Freedmen). Now the group''s vision has broadened (Make an Impact Music Ministries) and their musical talent has placed them into a genre of music that is atypical of other urban gospel producers and artists. Their non-conforming, lyrical content is as uncharacteristic as the spelling of their name - Kontagiouz Soundz.
Today, Kontagiouz Soundz music repertoire has expanded and they have received a well-deserved boost. They were featured in the November 2002 issue of the award-winning Bay Area publication, CityFlight Newsmagazine. In 2003, their musical talent opened the door to prominent partnerships with well-known organizations. They created the signature jingle, "Bow Down" for the Sacramento Kings basketball team. They also created the radio advertisement song, "It''s Up to Me" for the Teen Pregnancy Prevention Campaign of the California Department of Health Services. In addition, they continue to make heartfelt impressions upon all those who experience the message in their music. Kontagiouz Soundz has made several guest appearances at various venues from Sacramento, Los Angeles, and the San Francisco Bay Area.
Kontagiouz Soundz passion runs rampant as they drive toward excellence in accomplishing God''s purpose for them, as seen in their dreams unfolding. Anointed Entertainment puts it this way, "Kontagiouz Soundz definitely has an anointed ministry which spreads the gospel through song and music. They are very energetic and have a great stage presence. They know how to get the people involved in praising God!!!" - Darlene Cotton (promoter) Anointed Entertainment.
