Details:
The music and performances of Krispen Hartung and Vincent Miresse are a marriage of the ancient organic with the modern technical. Avant-garde and improvisational guitarist, Krispen Hartung plays the acoustic guitar with conviction and professionalism based on 25 years of music performance background, but he adds a twist to his playing with various computer-based and tone altering effects, and real-time looping technology. The result is a tapestry of intertwined and multiple-layer guitar parts. In short, Krispen has figured out how to clone himself on stage.

Vincent Miresse accompanies Hartung''s intriguing melodies and soundscapes with the didjeridu, down-to-earth rhythms, and free flowing percussion. Together, these two artists produce free and unrestrained improvised music that is truly unique and compelling to the ear. Now, Hartung and Miresse''s most recent CD, "Live at the Kulture Klatsch," is receiving rave reviews from peers and listeners from all over the world, as well as making its way into the playlists of internet radio stations across the country.

"Live at the Kulture Klatsch" was recorded live at the Kulture Klatsch on December 2, 2004 and March 3, 2005 at Boise, Idaho. All songs were spontaneously composed and improvised on the spot using real-time looping technology (guitar) and world percussion.

Krispen Hartung
Acoustic guitar, real-time looping

Krispen Hartung''s 25-year musical background is an experimental and continuously evolving road trip marked by many excursions and detours - from classical guitar, progressive rock, and world-beat, to fusion, traditional jazz, and avant-garde. In 1993, Hartung began studying the method of real-time looping, the technique of digitally recording live performance, playing it back in real-time, and repeating this processes indefinitely to produce multiple layers of interweaving and complimentary guitar parts. Since then, he has become one of the Northwest''s most accomplished real-time looping artists and Idaho''s leading member of the international looping community Looper''s Delight. Hartung''s debut solo CD "Places" was released for sale world-wide in April of 2004 and consists of a series of colorful, innovative, and thought/mood provoking looping compositions that he improvised and recorded on the spot in one take.

As a result of his diverse background and studies, Hartung now exhibits a dynamic and atypical performance style that integrates multiple genres and gives new meaning to the world of improvisational guitar. His most recent CD release is a free improvisational work entitled "Live at the Kulture Klatsch," featuring didgeridoo artist and percussionist Vincent Miresse. Krispen is currently working on the release of two new CDs in the December, 2005 timeframe: a new solo CD entitled "Descent to Self," which will be a collection of improvised and computer-based compositions, and a collaboration CD entitled "Krispen Hartung & Friends: Xperimentus," comprised of duo compositions of he and 12 other recording artists from around the world.

Vincent Miresse
Didjeridu, dumbek, singing, bowl, bells, rainstick, udu, etc

Collaborative design and the creative use of auditory space are Vincent Miresse''s musical intentions. Formal studies in History, Anthropology, and Music at the University of Wisconsin influenced his multifaceted stylistic interpretations of Folk, Jazz, and the exponential dimensions of World Music. Miresse founded the Bhakti Improvisational Music Ensemble, and served as a chief artistic director, percussionist, dancer, and sculptor in the Mostly Dance, Mostly Sculpture, and Mostly Percussion Ensemble. He has performed with Ken Bonfield and Michael Manring. He has also shared the stage with The Indigo Girls and jazz great Greg Osby while accompanying different ensembles. Vincent''s style and aspirations were furthered by a pilgrimage to Australia to study the ethereal art of didjeridu and circular breathing, and another to Cuba to study Afro-Cuban musicianship and percussion. The intrinsic natures of these traditional crafts are forged anew through the sum of Miresse''s experiences. Now, breaking even newer ground, Vincent Miresse accompanies Krispen Hartung to explore the realm of the Avant-garde.
