E'' un album che "scappa via" questo "Aeroplanes", e che si fa rincorrere negli ascolti, per fissare nella retina una visione nitida degli affreschi in technicolor della band. Si finisce nel viaggio finale di "Every One Has A Spot In The Sunshine" con i suoi intrecci vocali e strumentali e la sua strepitosa jam. Gli Strange Flowers trascendono i confini nazionali, e, punto ancora più prezioso, collaudano una miscela micidiale che potrebbe mettere d''accordo fans di Ride e Chapterhouse con adepti delle religioni ancestrali di Pink Floyd e Pretty Things."
Music in Belgium (Belgium): " Après "Ortoflorovivaistica" sorti en 2006, le groupe italien The Strange Flowers nous revient avec ce nouvel opus toujours baigné d''un rock psychédélique qui doit beaucoup au Pink Floyd époque Syd Barrett. Pourtant, force est de constater qu''avec ce nouveau disque le groupe affiche une personnalité plus affirmée. Tout d''abord, il faut savoir qu''il y a eu un remaniement profond de la formation. Le chanteur et guitariste Michele Marinò, en leader incontesté, est toujours bien là. Par contre, autour de lui, c''est le grand chambardement. L''autre guitariste se nomme Nicola Cionini, le bassiste est Alessandro Santoni et le batteur Gabriele Pozzolini. Autre changement dans ce disque, le format des chansons. Si dans "Ortoflorovivaistica" il y avait un titre qui approchait les dix-sept minutes, ici c''est terminé. Cela se situe la plupart du temps entre 3 et 4 minutes en dehors du petit dernier qui pousse à 6''40. Les chansons sont donc plutôt courtes et directes. Afin d''asseoir leur réputation, ils ne devraient pas avoir de mal à trouver quelques excellents singles dans tout ceci tant il y a des titres forts. Les dix morceaux qui composent cette nouvelle rondelle démontrent une grande maturité et affirment la personnalité du groupe. Il y a toujours ce psychédélisme qui tient de Pink Floyd mais c''est bien moins marquant. En fait, ils y ont apporté une nouvelle fraîcheur, celle que l''on retrouve aussi dans des groupes actuels tel Secret Machines. Ils s''éloignent aussi parfois de cette zone psyché ajoutant encore un peu plus de modernité à l''ensemble. La guitare sort des riffs de derrière les fagots et les voix sont très étoffées, il faut dire qu''ils sont trois à chanter maintenant. On trouve aussi dans les morceaux des traces des Beatles. Ecoutez ce "Yellow Of Sun". A certains moments, on pense aussi à Oasis, surtout en écoutant comment le chant de Marinò égrène les paroles. Il suffit de se pencher sur "My Girl Goes Shine" ou "You Don''t Know" pour comprendre. A d''autres, les tons se tournent vers les Stooges d''Iggy Pop. Et puis, il y a ce groove imparable déployé par la section rythmique dans les moments bien rock. Il a le don de captiver l''attention de l''auditeur. Avec ce nouvel opus, The Strange Flowers s''imposent comme un des groupes phares actuels dans le domaine du rock psychédélique. Si vous aimez cela et que vous ne les connaissez pas encore, il est grand temps d''y remédier. Foncez acheter cette rondelle."
Planet Trash (The Netherlands): "Vorig jaar verscheen The Imaginary Space Travel Of The Naked Monkeys. Een enorme hippieplaat van The Strange Flowers. In het twintigjarige bestaan van de band was dat pas de derde plaat. Ik keek dus vreemd op toen recentelijk opvolger Aeroplanes In The Backyard verscheen. Zijn die vage, Italiaanse hippies ineens wakker geworden en productief geworden? Veel gekker moet het natuurlijk niet worden. De nieuwe plaat heeft overigens een veel lager hippiegehalte en een veel hoger garagerockgehalte. Geen groot hippie-alarm derhalve. Lees rustig verder. Aeroplanes In The Backyard is een aangename plaat geworden, maar met alleen aangename muziek kom je er niet. Het grote manco van de plaat is het chronische gebrek om helemaal los te gaan. Leken de mannen vorig jaar vooral LSD uit de snoepdoos genomen te hebben, dit jaar zijn ze aan de tranquilizers gegaan en dat breekt de plaat gaandeweg op. Naast de tranquilizers liggen hopelijk de amfetamines zodat we volgend jaar een knaller van een garagerockplaat mogen verwachten, want The Strange Flowers moet in staat worden geacht die scheve toren uit hun woonplaats definitief te laten omvallen."
