Cartoon Physics is a project of Sam Magriplis and Peter Ayscough from Brisbane, Australia. Pete and Sam have been kicking around the Brisbane indie scene for a number of years. They formed Cartoon Physics in late 2007 as a partnership to develop, perform and record a repertoire of powerful new songs.
The boys approach their material patiently, making gradual, incremental changes to arrangement and instrumentation over time. The approach focuses on the inherent qualities of each song and develops the songs in directions unique to those qualities. The resultant range of material might be difficult to categorize, but each song possesses a strong identity that is unique to itself.
Arrangements typically feature both Pete and Sam on guitars (electric and acoustic) with Pete on lead vocals and Sam providing harmonies. Bass, drums and other instrumentation are sequenced by Pete.
This is music for the heart and the head. Music that makes clear, articulate, often beautiful statements, and resonates with strong emotions.
